I changed my center console in my '98 to an '01 an with it came an 01 shift knob..... i know my '98 uses a clip to secure the knob but how do i secure the '01 knob ?? thanks
no..... its definatly different.... the 01 dosent use a clip to secure itself......
I'd say it'd be easier to just get the whole 01 shifter assembly...
well it also came with a black plasic sleve that goes inside the boot...... ill try to find a pic of it
He's got a manual shifter.
The 01 knob is press fit. There's no clip or anything. It's not meant to ever be removed so it sure as hell isn't going to just slide back on once it's been pulled off. The 00-05 stick has a gnurled top on it which will tear the knob as it's removed.
Basically... if you want to use it, glue it on.
And no... you can't just get the whole shifter assembly. I don't think the cable throws are the same between the Getrag and the Isuzu trannies so the shifters won't be compatable.
good luck once u've taken the stock shift knob off... it DOESNT stay on again no matter what. i took mine off and put on an after-market. it was a pain to get the stock one off, and then i decided to see if it was possible to put it back on and it DEFFINATELY does no stay.
Lots of glue will hold it.
