i slapped on my new steering wheel and took off the plastic part that gos on top on steering column u Know the one that hides the hazard lights and blinkers and what not any ways i painted that black and it looks great but how in the world do i take off the bottom part to it the ignition and steering adjuster is in the way....
The tilt lever just unscrews and there are 3 bolt underneath that hold the bottom piece on.
The tilt lever apparently screws off, but I never had any luck removing mine. I ended up bending the bottom piece over it to remove it. If you pull it over the ignition and then bend it just the right way, you'll be able to work it over the lever.
Of course, it might also break while doing this. I've done it twice and not broken it either time, but that's not to say it won't happen.
thanks ill try right now and come back with the results
well the sliding trick worked but i have to remove the trimming to get it out of the adjuster as for the the telt lever twisting off no dice...but thanx for the help....

I had the opposite problem. Mine just went and fell off one day, and I thought I'd broken it until I realize it just screwed back on.

On my last car, I actually chewed up the plastic a bit trying to unscrew it... even when covered with a cloth.
What's the issue now, Eddie? I didn't quite understand that. You said you have to remove the trimming to get it out of the adjuster. What does that mean?
you just have to be a man when u unscrew it
actually i think that is the most solid piece on the car. they use a locktite type stuff on the threads that makes it hard as heck to get off but it will get off. mine got chewed up a little bit with the vicegrip and cloth techniuqe so i sanded it down a little to clean it up. but once u get it out the first time u wont have any problems getting it out again.

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
yeah i chewed mine up as well thats kinda why i stoped trying to unscrew it ....but like Jason said i guess i have to "be a man and unscrew it"
mine just came off with a little bit of finger effort
