You shouldn't call that a cage that's a roll bar the cage has halobars and front down tubes and other reinforcements

he would be correct. so even when the time comes that you are fast anuff to need one that aint going to pass as a legal cage.
do you have a cardomain or anything. From the looks of your registry, it sounds pretty sharp. the cage looks nice.
yea ive got a cardomain just search for low04cavy and youll ind me.
and yes i know its not classified as a full cage at the moment, and it will pass cause it is made out of 1 3/4 tubbing and for a 4 point cage, and you need 1 3/4 to be legal so it is a legal 4 point cage.

ill talk to him and see if he would want to make more of them and ship them to people that would want one. so when i find out ill post something and see who all wants one.

I could be wrong and i aint trying to bash your cage or anything, but it was my understanding that to be legal for ihra and nhra it had to be a 6 point cage. thats what i ment when i said it really wasnt legal as a 4 point cage.
yea if you have a 4 point you have to make it out of at least 1 3/4 tubbing witch is what i did to make it legal for a 4 point. cause the guy that built it for me used to build cages for NHRA top fuel dragsters so i trust him on what he says is legal and not. even if its not legal now i really dont need it cause im only in the high 12's at the moment but within the next year when i build my motor then ill need a 6 point and will get the door bars installed next year.

yeah if the guy can make one for a sedan i would like to get a 4 or 6 point
cavalierkid02 wrote:yeah if the guy can make one for a sedan i would like to get a 4 or 6 point
that might be hard cause hed need a car that is a sedan to make one, cause i know everything is different with the sedan.

yeah i'am wondering if thats why none of the shops i've went to wont make them but theres also no places that make just roll cages around here so i have to check with just random shops that will make them but they wont make them for sedan's
I'm really not clear on this, but aren't there also rules about padding being required unless you're wearing a helmet?
It's something to keep in mind since you won't be wearing a helmet on the streets. Consider getting some proper padding so if ever the roll bar comes in useful, you'll be protected from any adverse affects it might cause.
id take one if i could get you to add a second seat belt bracket on the pass. side.
The padding is required anywhere your head could possibly contact, even with a helmet on. It won't stop the pain much if you hit it without a helmet though, as it's very solid and hard to compress. Just ask my left knee how hard it is. LOL.
Oh and the foam used has to be SFI aprroved and costs like $20 for 3 feet.

Looks good! And the kids can pretend they're on the roller coaster when you stuff them in the back seat!!
Timothy Pietraallo wrote:Hey hypsy how hard is it to install this http://www.swracecars.com/shopping/shopdisplayproducts.asp?search=yes&bc=no . I noticed in another post that you run this roll cage from them. Just wondering. Thanks in advance!
Not too bad. The hardest part was fabbing the mounting plates to the car's contours. Each plate, if the cage is welded in, has to be 6in x 6in minimum. All of mine were contoured to the area they're mounted, including the one on the right side of the trunk, which has 3 bends in less than 1/2in because of the spare tire well. For all 5 points I have in now it took them about 4 or 5 hours.
FatCavy: Just a FYI...your going to need at least one door bar for that to be legal for 11s. The new minimum is 5 points, no matter what the tubing size. Oh and make sure you have a fire jacket for this season and a engine diaper for 2008. Oh and don't forget the flywheel scattershield either if you hit 11s. Have fun fabbing that bitch up. Luckily I got to copy the HRC one.
