Anyone know a place online or in Wisconsin/Illinois that sells Lexan Windows for a 2000 Cavalier? Windshield, doors, etc. Just need a link or info of the place please. I plan to do my own searching, but just figured I would ask to see if anyone knew of a good place first.

I would like to know too!
ya me too my windshield is cracked haha
right now im in the process of making lexan windows 1/8 inch thick for my brothers hatch and quaters on his dsm. frist find some sheets of semi-flexible lexan. remove the window. then heat the lexan to about 120 degrees and clamp it to the window, use a bunch of clamps and only tighten them down enough to hold it to the glass. then let it cool on its own and your good to go.
and you want to do this why?
no offense, but considering the mods you have, weight reduction isnt really going to change anything.
if you want weight reduction, start with the seat covers and steering wheel cover
Never mind the fact that lexan windows aren't street legal, and if you ever are god forbid in an accident severely increase the chances of your becoming trapped inside the vehicle.... Oh, and that after about two months of street driving they'll probably be so scratched you can't see out of them and have to get a whole other set.... I'm not trying to bust your balls here bro, I see you're a young guy and you're just getting started, but if you want weight reduction, why did you install all those gawdy neons, seat covers, etc? Take a lesson from someone who's been down that road before, if you want your car to be fast, then come up with a goal, save your money, and in the meantime, spend your time researching how to accomplish that goal. Lexan windows are something that should only be done on a track only car with the appropriate safety equipment. They are not in any way a "rookie" or first mod.

well lexan scrathes very easily and give it a month or so and it will look like your window is frosted so you wont be able to see out of it anyway

well no need to edit my post. i was just going to post the same thing about having the break the window if your in an accident
not to mention they will start to turn yellow over time and you cant tint it either
thats why were only doing the hatch and quarters cuz they weigh over 75 lbs total on a dsm
also 3m clear bra material can be used but it fogs easy
Automatic 2200 with an intake and muffler and you're worried about the weight of your windows?
Wow, this @!#$ forum either humors me at times! Either that or it costs me brain cells. I have yet to decide.
Paint more @!#$ in your engine bay and interior blue if you want to go faster.

So i'm going to use your @!#$ statement against you because your funny. Did I ever say I was going to "BUY" Lexan windows? I asked for links to a dealer to find out if there are any companies that make them for cavs (because I know they make them for civics). I wanted to see if they exist as well as check prices, but I am nowhere near going that into depth in weight reduction. I have to get my catback (just need to get off my ass and go to the shop) then pick up a header and a magnaflow cat. Once all the basics are done I can start worrying about BUYING weight reduction parts. Oh, and apparently you missed that I didn't ask for opinions. I asked for DEALERS IN THE AREA OR ONLINE. So @!#$ all of you. However, thank you to the productive person who mentioned how to make them on your own, thanks for being helpful!
As far as the rice on my car goes, it's a auto cav that can supposedly run 13sec 1/4mi at best if FULLY tuned. I'm more concerned with learning on this car and having fun, making it "my own". If I where bragging about racing at the track and about how I want to make my car the fastest out there, then sure, rip me a new one cuz thats gay to talk about a nearly stock cav like that.
Also, thanks for the warnings on the windows. I haven't gotten to any research on them yet, was just asking for dealers. Read about them in a book and didn't know what they where, figured I'd ask the JBO. Once again, the person that told me JBO was just a bunch of retarded @!#$s was proven right. Wish it was different.

THE TRUTH HAS OFFENDED HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone coddle him and his "wonderful" idea.
Your first said you wanted to know where to get then when you were asked why you said for weight reduction.
You then get mad because people say its not worth the weight savings due to the fact your car is one step above rental car status.
To continue why would you ask about a product its pricing or where you can get it if you had no intention on buying?
In short can it be done? yes
is it cheap? relatively
is it worth while? not at all
do you have any use or need for them? no
Teh Jeffie has spoken now please continue on your way, and be sure to look both ways before crossing the street.

SATCH PROGRESS THREAD!!!
In Loving Memory of Phil Martin December 14 2005
Alexis: Dustin, you're ghey, lol. I am better. I have tits, and tits rule all.
I see it like this, its his car, his money, his choice. If he wants to do it he can but you all don't have to go to the point of making yourselfs sound like a bunch of flaming losers to get the point across that this is a bad idea just tell him that and drop it. Its his choice. Thats whats wrong with this place I mean come on we drive J-Bodies even if we succeed in having a decked out engine we still really don't have anything really worth while. I mean get real we come to this place to get advise on the j-bodies we own. its not like this is a vette club or a high priced european car club. We drive economy cars and then there are people on here who act like their sh*t don't stink when they own one too... We all try to make the best out of the cars we drive don't flame for that. I mean we all have made bad choices before...
wow maybe everyone needs to calm down and realise the whole objective of this site is to provide answers when asked and to post how tos on moding this platform......why does everyone ALWAYS have to get into the " thats bs prove it" and " #$^%ing ricer".
just stop all the hating and get back to the topic of this thread!

So you have never planned out and researched available mods for your car, where to buy them and how much they are for possible future reference? And apparently you don't look into things you read either? If I wanted peoples opinions on what these windows would do for my car, I would have asked someone to view my specs and say if they thought it would be worth it. Nowhere did I say that. I asked for dealers, someone didn't know what I was talking about so I said they are used for weight reduction, that was all (none of your answers are relevant to my questions! "Is it worth while", "do you have use for them"). And I missed the coddling...but ok.

Do I know my car sucks? Yes.
Was the criticism of my car necessary or relevant? No.
Do you get a kick out of warping people's posts and picking on 17 year old aspiring tuners? I see nothing that proves otherwise.
Are you a flaming douche? Apparently so.

see this is y so many ppl dont even bother posting on jbo no mre cuz of so many cocky Fcks with there egos up the as.. everyone goes after the one guy to bash
nto one of you said anything about the other 2 guys at the beginin that were wondering the same thing. so thats 3 ppl sondering about summtin and then u guys come prancing along and got to be pricks about it. how about if ur gonan bash do it right and bash all 3 ppl if ur so tough and knwo it all.. me i could give a @#$%^& less cuz ya couldnt get ot me if u had ur whole crew helping ya. if he has this and this doe to his car so what let him be, its up to hm whats wrong and whats right, we all learn somewhere and we all have our own tastes.
i dont see u guys going around questioning ppl when they put airride, nitrous, or a charger on a stock car, you guys are the first one saying nice mod bro knarly man... is there a book i missed on what order your suppose to mod your car in? what rims headers intake is that the proper way sir? uz y buy headers and intake if ur gonan turbo it.. hell i might wanna donk the sunfire.. aka for the suburban kida out there that means putting big rims and jking the car up high, you guys are the reason that ppl sell there jbo and buy a honda.. everyone wasnt brought up with everythign handed to them on a silver spoon

to the last 2 posts, both of you please stfu. he asked about lexan windows, myself and 2 others warned him about what is going to happen if he gets them. i guess we arent looking out for his safety and others on the road because in 2 months he wont be able to see out of those windows. we gave him all the negitives as to why not to do it but i guess we didnt help right?
i agree 110% with joe. call it mean or harsh or what have you but its true. yes lexan windows would be helpful when say your running maybe 11s but at the point where your barely breaking 16s its not important right now. if you want weight reduction remove your interior, remove the spare tire and jack, get rid of your ac. theres a ton of @!#$ you can do. the windows arent that heavy and replacing all of them with lexan wont save you much time.
Nothing against you, man. You actually helped.
So the summary of answers:
No companies in the WI/IL area or online that sells Lexan windows for Cavaliers. They must be custom made with 1/8 inch thick Lexan. "Frist find some sheets of semi-flexible lexan. remove the window. then heat the lexan to about 120 degrees and clamp it to the window, use a bunch of clamps and only tighten them down enough to hold it to the glass. then let it cool on its own and your good to go." However, Lexan scratches easily and you soon wont be able to see out of them if used for street driving. They also have some safety issues that could keep you trapped in the car during an accident. It's cheap to do, but should only be used on a track car.

I hope that was some joke i missed out on. if not someone please @!#$in tell me why i wasted all this money on a supercharger when all i needed was an auto cav with an intake and muffler!!
but im not going to bash him because just two years ago I also had an auto 2.2 (97!) cav 3 spd with an intake and muffler tip lol
its all part of the game
Ok here's the deal. Lexan for the J's is hard as hell to find. You have to go through Europe to get in most of the time. It's dirt cheap over there (like 60$ a pane) but the customs on it normally runs 450.... a pane. Secondly if you are buying automotive lexan they coat it with a UV scratch proofing. It won't yellow or scratch. How ever for the same reason as scissor doors that just go up, I would not recommend replacing all of them. Or at least mount them with quick disconnects. And by the way shaving a hundred pounds off your car makes a huge difference in handling and acceleration. Even if the car isn't built. I say do some research but keep an open mind!
ok ONE MORE TIME........since no one can stop bashing. i gave u guys instructions on how to build them, who cares if hes making windows for his stock j. ITS NOT YOU CAR IT HIS. and 3m makes a crystal clear vinyl protectant that goes on just like tint or reg vinyl to take care of the scratch issue. and last time i checked 1/8 lexan is durable, not indestructible.....i sure as hell know that i can hit it and crack it to pieces with my fist so a small hammer or pick should bust one out in the event of an accident. so if he was only to do his rear and quarter (like i stated) he would be fine.
point is ur car is what YOU want it to be, and your off to a good start
