Vert. tonneau cover update 11/8/05

Now that SEMA is over I got a little slow down time here at work. So,I finally got my fiberglass part made and ready for upholstery.

If someone wants to try their hand at photoshoping this for me go right ahead. It will covered with tan and graphite vinyl.

I made some quick cardboard templates to go in the recesses so you can see what it will look like when it's done. Also the FRONT (right behind the seat backs) will have a graphite insert as well...

John, could you provide a bit of info about the foam you used to shape the cowls? I'd really appreciate it. The cover looks excellent!

Do I even have to say that you are so great at what you do? I wish I was around your area to get some stuff done.

Wow , thanks guys. Hopefully I'll be able to pull the back seat out this weekend and start fabbing up the sparetire mount and a few other things. Maybe even start fiberglassing.

Matt S. I get the foam from U.S. Composites FOAM you can get a few different pounds per cubic foot. I usually get 4lb. or 8lb.

BTW , the whole thing weighs in at 21 pounds. By the time I get it covered and installed it should weigh the same or a little less than the rear seat...

now, i know everyone here absolutely loves it, and im not saying that it is horrible IN ANY WAY.. however, i just think that it would have look so incredibly better if they cover didnt come up so high behind the headrest, i think you shouldve leaned the seats back a little further, and then lowered the top part of the cover from there

do you understand what im saying or did that make no sense???
and once again im not flaming you at all, im sure the quality of work is flawless, its just the design that i think could have used a little more tweaking.....

Thank you and have a nice day!

Looking good man. I'm seeing what Dave's talking about but if the seats sit straight up they're the same height as the cover so all around it looks good.

Thanks everyone... The top is actually about 1" lower than the seatbacks it is just hard to get the right angles taking pictures in the back of the shop with such little room to move around.

I love the idea and the originality. I'm just not sold on the idea with the convertible top still out and visible. If the car were designed where the top folded out of view I think this would be a top ten mod. Guess we'll see when it's finished.
