I got a chance to buy the '96 "ghostflamez" back from the dealer my buddy traded it into, it was bought once and has returned even more damaged. Why buy it back? I don't know, emotional attachment, hopes of making it a project for the "other half" to eventually drive, no clue. Basically I regret selling it and feel this is a chance to redeem myself. Where do I get the time and money to fix it? No clue, but I have the desire.
Details-
..auto tranny was slipping when sold, B&M Shiftplus acted as a band-aid though and is still working
..vandalization damage was never fixed, flames are keyed to @!#$ from when my buddy owned it
..found coolant in oil, did head gasket?, still act as if it's @!#$ though when checking
..dents and more dents, the last owners treated the car like @!#$, not to mention it has a few ricey mods
Onto the pics

Sucks, needs engine/tranny/paint....but I still want it. I could bring it home this week for $558 out the door.
i understand the emotional attachment, but considering you have put your 02 pretty much back to stock, i dont understand why you would want to buy back an older one to put money into. whats wrong with the 02?
its just not worth it
use the money to put into your current car

It's an '01? /smartass
How have I put it back to stock? I'd like to know what's considered stock. Cause I removed the Type-J? If anything I've modded the '01 more this year than ever!
Nothing is wrong with my Z, I'd be more so buying the '96 to fix up for the "other half"
.
joe...
its time to move on
there are times when i want to buy a 1989 baby blue ford taurus wagon just like my first car...

!
550 . i would take it in a heart beat .
True, almost considering it for parts, but yeah, I don't have the time nor money to take on another project right now.
Just got my hopes up seeing it, but being realistic.....it's not worth it.
thats one benefit to all your previous cars crapping out on you (well 3 of 4)
ill never see them again

NO longer a dilemma
Though I could make the money back in parts, Jay Van made a good point there that'd I'd be stuck with a shell that I have an emotional attachment to.
Joe this is definetely a tough call... But I would pass and save your money and it towards something else. Good luck bro with your decision!

Jay Van makes all of Joe Schulte's decisions in life.
bein emotionally attached to a car is one thing... but being financially attached is another game.

ill sell you my 97 cav joe
lol
i bought a cav no motor and decent body for about the same price , i plan on making it a race car so to me the price was worth it
you just gotta weigh the options , if you got a place to put it and not get damaged , might as well if you want another cav
if you dont have a place to put it , and dont think youll get to it , then pass on it
unless you got a friend that wants it
hey Joe JUST DO IT if I had the chance to get my 99 fire back I would you need to fill that void and I understand seeing it this way it hurts you just do it and bring that cavy bac to life it could be you ddaily driver or your show/go car. good luck let us know if you get itback

That doesnt look bad at all, it is a used car thats 10 years old. I go to the dealer auctions all the time and we cant pick them up with clean titles like that for that much. Its a steal, buy a motor and tranny together for say 700$ do the work yourself and have a decent second vehicle for under 1500$. Its like a women, at least you have known where its been...
