New rims and Brakes ...
I got my suspension and brake swap done a couple days ago, LOVE IT ! It's WAY tighter in corners and rides just awesome.
What Went in :
Alero/Grand am/Malibu Front Knuckles and 11" brakes
Alero/Grand am/Malibu outer CVs
Alero/Grand am/Malibu Independent rear suspension and 10.5" brakes
Urethane control arm bushings
Urethane sway bar endlinks
Custom welded mandrel exhaust
16" GTP 5x114.3 wheels
225/50/16 Goodyear RSAs
The swap went well, took us all day and most of the night to get it all done ... but sooooo worth it in then end. The fire stops awesome and rides great. The swaps are fairly simple but you need some extra parts that you have to source out.
On to the pics
The whole car from the outside. Don't mind the front sitting so high, I we forgot to trim the bump stops.
I thought this pic reminded me of a hotwheels or some other toy car
The front brakes 11" From an N body
The rear 10.5" brakes on the N IRS
And now pics of the exhaust, Adam (crazy canadian) Ran a custom welded manderel exhaust from my cat back, sounds very nice and he does AWESOME work !
questions or comments are welcome

Very nice man!! Wheres the how to for this swap!! looks great
The IRS has been done 3 times by us in BCJ and also by CTS and is in the suspension forum as well as the front swap. Thanks for the comments
Jay
looks good with the torque star wheels, never thought u could fit them on a sunfire
the bolt pattern on those wheels is 5 x 115 right? How'd you fit that size wheel on the hub. Or was it because you used the Malibu stuff?
Sam
the pattern is 5x114.3 and I used the N body hubs etc. so the bolt pattern matched perfect
the other 2 guys in BCJ that have it are running aftermarket rims with a dual bolt pattern and are using 5x100 for the fron and 5x114.3 for the rear
Jay
the rims in my sig weren't mine .. and they're single bolt pattern 5x100 only so they wouldn't fit
Jay
Awesome ride. Looks sweet.
As far as I know bump stops dont have anything to do with ride height, unless your on a coil-over setup. But for springs/struts they dont as far as I know.
Awesome work man. Can wait to see it finished.
Regards,
J
Nice job man. Glad to see the swaps catching on. Need some paint on that car.
The star torque spoke wheels look good, look like they belong there. I'm a fan of the GP wheels anyway.
Only problem I've had is that the rear sits more than 1" lower than it should. I'm still looking at getting custom springs made, but at $160 (rear 2 only) for the cheapest so far, I'm weighing priorities.
i think i need to come visit you guys and bribe you too pull the swap off on the satchmobile

Very nice, much cheaper than an aftermarket rear disk swap I bet

cheaper than doing just he baer rear disc swap .. and I got fronts, rears and an IRS ... worked out quite well
Jay
very nice... i like it but seeems as if the rear wheels sit out just a hair more than stock but i really like that swap wish i had the time, money, and skills to do it on my car
Do all these bolt up? Or does some brakets need to be made?
it is wider

that was also another bonus ... not to menion the negative camber on the rear looks fawkin awesome! as for brackets .. there had to be some holes rilled ... somethings moved and a spare tire well smashed with a hammer
Jay
we drilled 4 holes ... ran some bolts through the frame rails and down through the holes ... put the nut on the bottom of the bolts and hit it with an impact gun ... works like a charm on the 3 we've done. we put it right on the J frame rails as well (almost identical to the N ones) if you use the box tubing you'll have to adjust the geometry to compensate, way too much hassle in my book when this works just as intended. For springs I'm using the Sprints front and rear. we had to wire the springs to the struts and strut mounts in the rear though as the suspension has more travel than the spring and it can come unseated from the perch. the wire solves it with no hassle
Jay
Wow man, thats awsome!!! Maybe I will make a trip out to BC next summer with mine. It will be in need of a suspension upgrade from the crap we get from the factory!!!
man i like that look alot and i bet the performance side out weighs the looks by a million
good job
oh yah ! I love it .. it stops on a dime and handles like it's on rails ...

I think I'm in love .. as much in love as someone can get with a car
Jay
looks better in person, just gotta even out the ride hight and your good to go

What would be the ride height if you had the stock N-body springs on it?
Thanks,
