Just got the new steering column in, with the new steering wheel and sticks test fitted.
Working on the rest of the dash right now. But I have almost no free time, so progress is coming slowly.

I'm not sure what's going on here?
Looks like it might be new steering wheel with audio controls? Not sure why the rest of the dash is so torn apart unless he's swapping to a Cavalier dash, cuz rest of interior is Pontiac.
Gotta keep on livin', L-I-V-I-N
GrandAM dash maybe? to go with that wheel and IRS swap he did.
^Good Guess!
It will be a mix of the Sunfire and Grand AM dashs.
Also adding HUD (can see the unit on the passenger side floor).

oooo spiffy
In Loving Memory of Phil Martin December 14 2005
good luck getting the HUD to fit under the dash AND between the cluster and windshield, there is NO room in there, I aborted that project.
Don't you need a specail windshield to work with HUD? Just something I Think I remember hearing before. Not that I know anything about it at all.
Dirtbag: Yeah the GAM cluster is slighty farther away from the windshield than the J, so it fit. The HUD will be pressed right up against the firewall, and the cluster up agaist the hud. Barely will fit.
James: The wheel is out of a 03 Grand AM, the steering column is from an 02 Alero with variable steering control and all the bells and whistles.
Stereophile: Windshield needs to be made of glass, so it reflects correctly, but otherwise it's nothing special.
I'm switching all this out in preparation for the 3800 SC. So if any of you are wondering about doing this, no it doesn't work with the stock PMC/BCM/EBCM computers.
all the best getting it done. I had my dash off, started cutting, only to see the metal support that runs behind the right of the cluster hidden below the plastic. Again, I'll be suprised if you can fit it beneath the dash. Most windshields out there will create a 'ghosting' where you'll see the image reflected twice, and its very blurry. Thats another problem I encountered.

ticks, like the blinker and wiper controls.
Dirtbag: Another advantage of the GAM dash is that it's higher up, so the HUD unit will be completely above that bar. Hopefully this weekend I"ll have picures of something that looks a little more like a dash. So much work to do though, and so little time.
Just a little update. This should resolve the question of "special glass".
Yes my garage is a pit. No I'm not going to clean it any time real soon.
The unit is just sitting there, it's very close to it's final position, but it's sitting on a Chilton book to hold it up.
Nice... keep this post updated with pictures for sure!
