The car is almost done at the body shop and I should have it back sometime next week. The bottom end is all ready to go now but not without some issues. This year I decided to have the whole rotating assembly balanced. Well come to find out that the whole rotating assembly was out of balance by 247 grams!!! The reason for this is because the 3800 is an externally balanced engine. What this means is that from the factory there is a counter weight added to the flex plate (or flywheel in the case of the camero's) to balance out the engine. For anyone who has followed my car you will know that I run an aluminum flywheel purchased from Racetech (which has since gone out of business). This flywheel was balanced alone which is great for an internally ballanced engine but very distructive to one that is not. Turns out that this is most likely the reason I have had a problem with spinning rod bearings in the past. It also explains the excesive vibration in the car. I am in the process of trying to find someone who can machine some new flywheels for any customers who want this swap but as of right now your only option is to use a camero flywheel that has been shaved down, I don't know how much this will throw the balance off but I am looking into it. As for my situation the machine shop was able to add weight to two counter weights on the crankshaft and everything is now in perfect balance. Too bad I wasen't aware of this sooner, I would of saved myself thousands of dollars and time!!!
Here are some pics of the car before it goes for paint...
And here is one of Brad's (Double Z) 07 Cobalt, with 20's

Nope, honestly I care about under the hood more than anything. We will tape it all off and that will be good enough for me, it's not a show car.

Alexis: Dustin, you're ghey, lol. I am better. I have tits, and tits rule all.
Nice keep the pics coming
Nice cobalt also
Stil sticking with white? Or new color? Looks good though, upgrade the engine anymore except for the balance?
nice
20's to big
GM Stage 2 &&& air box modification
so you're just getting the motor internally balanced?
Yeah, there was no room to add weight to the flywheel. Everything was spun up together though (flywheel, crank, rods and pistons) so everything is perfectly ballanced. The block has been punched 20 over with a new crank, rods and forged/coated pistons, dropping the compression down to 8:1 Replaced the front cover, oil pump and water pump, all new bearings throughout, the same XP cam, 3/8" push rods, and all ARP hardware. I'm getting the engine back Monday morning, I will post up some pics of the engine then.

No gunmetal.
James, I will speak to Joe about this situation with the flywheel. Thanks again for letting me know about this before I put mine in, perhaps Joe will have a fix for this for at least myself.
As for the car, looking good as usual... mine is again on the back-burner, ugh, I hate this.
Cant wait to see this car done. Been a LONNNGG time in the making. Liking the cobalt, dunno bout the rims tho.
