CHECK THIS OUT 5x115 pattern on a j-body swing arm

original looking

old and new hub plates.

Malibu 98+ Hub at 5x115 pattern

Malibu hub will not fit into j-body hub plate.

Thanks to Ken (guy in green) for all his hard work. Without him I would have wasted some more time cutting metals.

him and me

ready for air bags

extended arms

this is the most reason why nobody would want to remove hub plate. leveler is a bitch.... took me hours to measure to be sure its perfect.

if I haven't solved the bottom bolts I would have to remove the hub plate's mounts... this is gonna be more hard.. I am glad to have this solved.

thanks to Jeff for all his hard work. Without him I would have wasted more time...

air bags now have new home

I am now still working on brake brackets.... should get this solved by tonight....

about time I have 8.5 at 235 to fit.... like how I have wished for and have this solved.
good feeling right now... ... it sucks to not drive car much for 3 years... but with all those hard work I have went thru will make worth once car is done........can't wait to remember how to drive a j-body again.....

1.Camaro 98-2002 Calipers and pads
2.Malibu 98+ Hub
3.customized hub plate
4. shorter the hub plate's mounts
5.extended arms
6. relocate from air strut to air bags flooring
7.soon to custom the brackets for camaro calipers

Enjoy pics

Are you planning on rounding off all the square corners, would make for a more completed look.
Looks like it sould work good for you either way.

Nice work.

Just out of curiosity, why did you chose to mount it sideways? I would have thought it would have been simpler for bolt clearance if it were bolted in it's original position (holes essentially on top and bottom, not on the sides)

lol, I knew I ll be asked about this..... I originally planned on rounding off all the square corners until I had some good talk with friends... I like how square corners look.... kinda old school plus less work to do.. nobody is gonna see it after rotors are inserted....

but yeah....I was going to do that.... glad I didnt

I thought the same at first.... I tried both ways... the other way had worst bolts clearance. Remember we are not talking about the j-body hub here.......

its the malibu hub...... its not simple like you think it would be lol..... but yeah you are a deep thinker

going to post some updated pics in a bit.....

got strongest bolts in six pins to hold the plate for brake bracket.. I hope this is gonna hold it... god bless me

FYI, to have calipers on top of the swing arm is for temporary. its gonna be different I know lol..... got my reasons why I had to do this... its not gonna be easy to explain here...

Actually, from the picture, it looks like it's a dual pattern 4 and 5 lug.

As far as the bracket goes, I hope you're going to make something more substantial. I don't see that thing holding up without issues.
I would have made it out of 1/4" to start with, and either welded some tubular spacers on it, or found a way to make it part of the mounting tab for the hub.
Even if those are strong bolts, there is going to be some deflection with that setup. Probably forgiving under easy braking conditions, but I doubt it will stay where it needs to be under any heavy braking.
