Well it was about time for the old cream/tan headliner to go ...After a trip to Joann's Fabrics and picking up enough Fabric and spray on glue.. I went to work ....

So out it came !!

Gave the fabric a few mins in the sun .

Close up of the fabric.

About to start putting the glue down.

Fabric put down . Still need to trim and glue the back down ..

Trimmed.

After about 45 mins it's all done .. I think it turned out good for my first time

I hope you used enough glue. I did a headliner once on a car and it ended up sagging in about a week. I used that 3M headliner glue that costs like 10 bucks. I hear contact cement works a lot better.

It looks fuggin great tho. I love the work.

looks good. the 3m 77 never worked for me, but if that loctite stuff doesnt do the trick, 3m 90 (i believe) will work wonders.

3M 90 never worked for me, even with some lighter material, not as well as I would like anyways. One warm day, and it would droop.

I don't believe I've seen that stuff around, I believe its worth the try if it holds the vinyl up. Make sure you post up after a few weeks to let us know how its holding up. It looks great!

Contact cement is the way to go. Mine is done in a rather heavy tweed. It has been 3 or 4 years now and still looks flawless. On the other hand, the 3M 77 or something similar that I used on my rear deck and door panels was nearly useless on hot days.

yeah its not really the glue thtast the issue , its the heat, most of your glues arent high heat glues which is what you need. ive used the loctite spray it seemed pretty decent, and the can does say high temp resistant. just doesnt tell you how resistant, and vinyl is pretty heavy, hopefully it holds for you.

I used the Loc-tite glue when i covered my headliner with felt. Its been a few months and still holding up.

Thanks everybody for the comments . I hope this holds up well also . I was thinking about the heat when I went to find the glue. This is why I went with the loctite glue . The 3m glue I found did not say anything about holding up under the high heat ... If it comes down I will put down the Marine glue I used for my carpet in my boat.. It has been down for 8 yrs now in the sun everyday and still holding . Its just a pain to spread or I would have used it . I will post pics of it when I reinstall it in the car this week..

not too shabby hope you let the adhesive tac up enough before rolling it out or else your gonna end up redoing it unfortunately.
