No More M62

I’ve had a good bit of free time over the past couple weeks, so I went ahead and installed some saab parts that were laying around. I got the downpipe and charge pipes from Brandoson and also had him ship me the turbo manifold. The post office lost the manifold so I ended up scouring ebay to find one. I added to/subtracted from the charge pipes in order to route them the way that I wanted them. I made sure the pipes cleared the factory fogs and the stock washer fluid reservoir. I also wanted to route everything underneath like the 5 speed guys do. Everything fit where I wanted it to and nothing is lower than my k-brace, so I didn’t lose any ground clearance. I do wish that I had a better welder, as the welds on the pipes aren’t the prettiest.

I took it out for a spin after everything was finished up. I’m very happy with it. I’m using the garrett turbo because I couldn’t find the mitsu one for a good price. I was seeing about 4psi initially. I need to check the couplers and adjust the wastegate rod. I had a small oil leak coming from the return line so once that’s all fixed I’ll drive it again. That stock saab BOV is so loud it’s almost annoying. I can’t wait to get to the track. There’s a bunch of little detail things to clean up, mostly relocating wires and rerouting some stuff, but I wanted to make sure everything worked before I moved stuff. Future plans include some exterior tweaks and hopefully buying Charlie’s Flik FTDs.

So how do you like it so far compared to the supercharger. Likes? Dislikes? Overall preferance?

Nice, also 4 psi is a little low, maybe it's a piping/coupler issue but the stock bov diaphram could be torn (pretty common)

yay andy! glad to see this. I always hate that rubber intake hose though lol

it's about the same. the instant torque doesn't feel like its there the way it was with the blower. I think it pulls a little harder up top with the turbo. they both make cool noise though lol Once I get a chance to get out and really drive the car, I'll be able to compare the two setups a little better

I think it was a coupler issue. I snugged everything down and then adjusted the wastegate rod. I'm now seeing 7psi. It pulls strong, but I think it needs a little more boost. How far can I push the turbo before I'm out of its efficiency range? I'd like to see how it feels on 10-12psi

It is pretty ugly. i'm really suprised that saab didn't make it look a little nicer. oh well, it gets the job done

Get videos now lol. What did you do for exhaust mods? I'm about ready to do my saab setup and I would like to hear what they sound like and how well it pulls. Also did you just keep your supercharger reflash?

Wish I had money, I'd ask about the M62...

Car looks great, but I agree that you should get the TRD front back on

What kind of videos do you want? I'm running the same 2.5" exhaust that I used with the blower, magnaflow cat, vibrant resonator, dynomax superturbo. I am using the supercharger reflash/injectors/tmap.

Nice work.

Hmmm you had a perfect opportunity to twin charge... j/k.

So did you do tap the block and oil pan yourself? Can you get pics of where you tapped? Plans for whats left of the blower kit?
