TTR lower engine

I'm in the middle of a engine rebuild and run into a problem looks like my lower engine mount is shot. Had it on for about a year and a half. Should I go back with the same one or some different?

In my engineering opinion....It looks like Nitrile butadiene rubber was used. Nitrile is very acceptable to Ozone/trioxygen degeneration. Also, some Nitrile rubbers do not hold up well to anti-freezes and oils. A bad or going bad alternator or A/C pump could cause ozone in that area, and degrade the rubber in the way it is pictured in the photo. Is the rubber soft and brittle or hard and brittle?

In my personal opinion...I would get a urethane mount. You preference on manufacture. I would check other rubber in the general area to see what kind of shape it is in.

Contact TTR and see if they'll do possibly a pro-rated replacement? I woudn't expect a mount to fail like that, but that is a risk you take with any aftermarket part. That is the first time I have ever seen a mount fail like that.

My TTR lower engine mount was installed over a year ago and still looks and works the same as the day I bought it. Yours is scary looking though, geez! Did it cause any damage or did you manage to get lucky?

Yea I just replaced my ttr upper mount with a solid lzm upper mount. The bushing was pushing outward a little, like the top plate was pressed against the mount. Still held pretty good though.

Thats kinda scary to see but your the first Ive heard having problems with the lower, Id contact ttr Im sure theyll help you do something about it.

i hate to say it but prothane ftw.

never mess with tried and true i guess.

from lzm's mounts having bending issues, ttr's mounts having powdercoating and bushing issues, and rk sport's cracked welds...

prothane > all

^^^Hahaha Brad, thats what I have an old school lower. Black with black bushings. Id like to get an lzm solid lower but rather not wait another couple months for it

I just got the LZM upper mount and have nothing but good to say about it. I have an RKSport lower poly mount, been kickin it for about 4 years.

I emailed them but no answer yet. I like the LZM but the wait time is forever, at lease thats what ofter people are saying on the .org but we know how that goes. I needed this mount 24hrs ago.
