Well, the time has finally come to start the modding. have had the car for a year now, and have done nothing to it until now.

I know its filthy, but it was raining when i left the shop, and there was primer/glaze dust all over it...

I have so much more to do to it, this really only feels like a small victory. Took forever to weld up all the holes because i really didnt want to run into a warpage issue, especially in such an obvious place. Next up is sectioning a small spot in the quarter panel behind the drivers door. Has some pretty nasty cancer, but shouldnt be too much work to fix. after that, its on to the front and rear bumper covers. Not going with any kind of body kit, but will be customizing the stockers, just to give it some personality, without being gaudy. After that, i am just going to spray it black again. Thinking of some very very subtle ghost flames, but we will see. Probably just put a ton of pearl mica in the clear. Then it will be time for the drop and rims.

more pictures would be better. maybe we could even chop the car and give you an idea of what it could look like down the road?

I'll get some more pics up tonight, just snapped that one with my phone. Have a pretty good idea of what its going to look like, just low and clean...lol I'm not into the crazy body kits, and wings, but if anyone wants to chop me some pics, i wont complain!

slammed on some expensive coil-overs, evil eyes welded in, keep it spoilerless(obvious,y you just removed it lol), GT bumpers/skirts. Some gold 18s" 5-spoked wheels with polished lips, done. IMO, that would make a clean as @!#$ Sunfire

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

Evil eyes are definitely on the listof to-do's. The car was in an accident before i owned it, and whoever repainted the front and rear bumper covers, and the hood, did not know what they were doing, so the hood has to be re-done anyway. So the evil eyes will be there very very soon. I do like the 18 inch 5 spokes, but not crazy about gold. Will have the biggest, shiniest lips i can find tho.

Attempted to get more pics, but my camera has dead batteries, and my cell phone is just crap for pics, so i will get some batteries tomorrow, and get some more posted up. and i have a thought about what i want to do with the bumper covers, so anyone that would be willing to help me out with a chop will be given and executive producer credit at the end...lol

Just took some pictures with a real camera. No more progress will be made until Sunday. I will take some progress pics as i work on the hood sunday.

This is what i will be tackling Sunday, hope to get it stripped, eyes welded in, and primed:

Some more of the spoiler shave: (no the fitment isnt perfect quite yet, not too concerned about it until car is ready to be sprayed)

Comments & Questions & Crtiticism are always welcome!

I'm sure this is posted somewhere, but im not asking for details or explinations, but is a 2000 sunfire front and rear bumper cover conversion a direct bolt-on swap? Thanks in advance.

Re: first step

yes it would be a direct swap. unless you go 2003+ you can do just the bumper covers

Not as much progress made today as I would have liked, but progress is progess over all. Took some pics for you guys. Nothing fancy.

Where'd The Hood Go?

Oh, its wrapped in plastic...duh!

Thank God for chemical stripper!!!!

After the stripper was neutralized, and before a full sand with 80 grit.

Now, before i get flamed for the color, understand that this is just the primer i used. Its DCX-900, and is just an odd yellow/beige color. I sprayed it with a Devilbiss PRI gun with a 1.8 tip, and it laid down so flat, i couldnt be happier.

As always, questions, comments, and yes even criticisms are welcome.

other plans now include a 2000 front & rear bumper cover swap. not 100% sure on the paint yet. gonna be black for sure, but maybe with some pearl in the clear...havent done any test panels yet, so im kind of undecided. definately a drop. wanna get some 18's, finish all the trim shaving/badge/doorhandle shaving, then im just going straight to the motor. i just want it clean and simple, and fast....lol

Re: first step

well, i am probably not going to make the progress i had hoped for tomorrow. the evil eye thing is becoming a bit of trouble. anyone who has done this mod, without buying pre-made eye-lids, please pm me. i have several questions. at this point, i am thinking that i will just be shaving off all the trim, and figuring out where there water leak in my trunk is coming from (i suspect a shoddy job of the alarm trigger onm the trunk lid). i am considering pulling off the skirts, just to find out what kind of rust issues i will have there, as this is a michigan car, and salt will just @!#$ a car up. again, anyone that has done the eveil eyes, please pm me, i am full of questions. thanks to all!
