Well take a look at what the ecotec look like running through FLIR (not sure if anybody else on jbo has done this)
2003 Cavalier
Forward (blurry as f**k)
Front of engine bay
Fuel rail/ part of intake manifold/Throttle body
Vavle Cover Exhaust manifold
Fuel Lines
"warm air intake" (thats sucking in 50 degree air)
Front Disc brake (notice the heat refecting off the rim holding in the temp)
Magnaflow High flow 2.5" CAT
Neat, it would be fun to look through one of those. I have used an infrared thermometer before though, pretty neat and very helpful when powdercoating items.

Ya your right, the haynes manual says my valve cover will be at 177° at idle, page 146 tells me not to run my intercooler piping the way I wanted because of the heat... man these haynes manuals are bad ass.
I also have the owners manual, it changed the oil in my car for me.
