not so winter parts thread
Wednesday, December 23, 2009 10:30 AM
so I've been fairly quiet this year as to what been going on with my car, at one point I was even looking to sell because I had lost interest in it. I really didn't drive it at all and was saving for a wedding so didn't have the extra cash to do anything it needed.
Well the wife convinced me to keep it and after the wedding I started collecting some small parts for it. Keep in mind this a budget build so it be anything insane.
First thing that was ordered was a carbon fiber hood and trunk from CF-tec with fully finished undersides.

whoring out the unwrapping process, like christmas came early:

crappy bb installed pics

Then I picked up a very low mileage set of Koni Yellows and Eibach Sportlines to replace my previous setup(KYB AGX and Sportlines). The reason I decided to do this was to eventually change out the Sportlines for a set of Ground Control Coilovers and my AGXs would have never handled the drop.

some pictures during install:

wife wanted to help so she got to do the porn bolts

After that Turbo Tech Racing was doing an awesome sale on the RKSport upper motor mount insert and lower mount, so I grabbed those aswell as a set of front Sway Bar endlinks since my other ones are shot.

few snaps of those:

Recently Ryan (Carey965) was parting out his car and moving on. I was in need of some underhood dress up, so I grabbed a few small things from him. A new matte black intake with filter and the some what rare RKSport Carbon Fiber Radiator Cover.
I also have plans to ditch all of the john deer green from under the hood and go with something different for next year.

few snaps of them installed:

I snagged a ?Ractive? Rear Strut Bar, and also something to add a little look to the inside of the vehicle as well as maybe some function. A one off Harness Bar that apparently was originally owned by Ian Lacey. I have plans to sand and paint or powdercoat the strut bar as its fairly scratched up.

quick snap of those:

I also have a Silver Gauge Cluster Overlay that I picked up from BlackCat Customs that will be installed aswell as a set of pedal covers and a short shifter from Cosmo Racing that I've had sitting in my drawer since last Christmas. Everything will match the Autometer gauges that I'm already currently using.

shots of those:

So something arrived in the mail two days ago. Turned out it was my B-day present from my wonderful wife. =)

just a few quick snaps camera was dying and a few pictures are blurry:

wow, very clean look, awesome parts, am pretty jealous on the hid kit. how much did that run her/you?
any shots of the interior? I hate white faced gauges but they do light up nice at night.

no idea what she payed for the kit, but I know you can get them through John Benham or directly through the retro-solutions website. The Gauges are actually silver and match my Autometer gauges, HVAC and Foglight/dimmer overlay. No recent shots of the interior and its in pieces right now so it will have to wait till its warmer before you see any changes.

Please let me know how the Cosmo racing short shifter is, I've seriously been considering getting one. I had one of their 'ecotec intakes' in the past, which was pretty much nothing more than a 2.4L intake, but the build quality was good at least. Niiiice parts pile / Christmas you've got going there!

Well the wife bought me the short shifter for christmas last year and I haven't installed it yet, but I had only heard good things about them. I think I remember reading somewhere that it was just a copy of the B&M one.

I'm very happy with fitment. it was a bit of a pain to get it alligned, but what trunk isn't.

CF-Technologies, keep in mind that they are located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada so I'm not sure how shipping would be. I actually just drove and picked up my stuff.

brandon... not so sure you are going to want one of those trunks. its just a stocker wrapped, not knocking that one bit because fitment would be just like stock. however... you would technically be ADDING weight.

just a tic here... i just went back up and looked at the pics. are those actually cf pieces? like fully i mean...

homiej- omfg, love every last thing you did. its nice to see what mine could have looked like with a black roof. LOL. i swoon over that rear lip. cant wait to get mine.

only thing i do not like is now the two-tone line in back does not look right. needs to carry all the way to the rear now due to the cf trunk.

cf tec makes hoods and trunks and other parts for jsp and other companies I believe and jordans trunk is all CF not wrapped, as for fitment with CF trunks I found they fit the best when you dont install the tension rods, I just disconnected mine when I had one and it fit thebest I have ever seen, ony problem was trying to hold it up, lol
