Why would motor mounts increace HP/ speed? I don't see the point., so I'm posting in the Newbie section.

they help transfer the hp and tourqe to the wheels better. the transferer between the engine and the wheels result in lose of power. the mounts help with that too. and they are helpful if you get a header they prevent the engine from rocking back and forth when you hit the gas. and you need them if you go boost or the way of n20

So how much hp and tq do you actually get? Can you notice the difference beside the vibration that your gf loves so much?

I don't think anybody has dyno'd just the mounts. Probably 2-3ft-lbs and 1-3hp. Not much, but the benefits are bigger when you get aftermarket parts like a header or turbo, since it keeps your engine from rocking and cracking your manifold or other parts.

Plus it's a cheap upgrade.. I have a 97 2.4.. How easy is it to install the lower mount? Can an average joe (like me) Put the upper and lower mount in? And how bad is the vibration? I've heard different from a number of people..

No way you gain Horsepower from stiffer engine mounts.

your right you don't gain HP...its just you don't loose it..the mounts just make everything more efficient...kinda of like pulleys or a better clutch

Correct. If a motor mount is broken some of the engines power is wasted by rocking or lifting up the engine.

^ Doesn't even have to be broken for the engine to rock on the mounts. Its designed to rock to cancel out vibrations, so the mounts aren't 100% stiff. As a result, some torque can be lost through the rocking of the engine.

True. I should have said excessive rocking.

roast em in third with my n2o on since getting them its the best 67 dollars i ever spent (top and bottom mount)

heres one for you open your hood, pull your e-brake, if you have a manual slowly release the clutch and watch the engine rock forward (wasted energy) if you have a auto place it in drive and press the gas watch the engine rock forward (once again wasted energy)

if this doesnt convince you i dont know what will hell its only 67 dollars im sure weve all spent more than that at a strip club in one night

"dude, thats a girls car"
NOT ANY MORE!!! PSHHHTTT!!!!

lol, i can scratch is 3rd, after i installed mine.. the motor dind't move at all.. get the from carcustoms.net, fast and easy A++ its like 55$ for both.. all you have to do is pop the bolts out of the bottom one and pop the new one in.. make sure you put the back bolt in first.. you can adjust the front.. and the top one .. you take off i think its the top 4 bolts and put some AJAX on it and slide in down in there under the factory one.. it shoudl probably take around 20-30 mins.. good luck

Once you get those .. I would recommend the Tranny ones next .. it will stiffen the whole engine and tranny up.

Again Car Customs is the the place .. Karo and his team are great ...

Hit 200 NA it broke once, Hit 213 it broke again,
Hitting 300 NA is further away than I thought.

Are they easy to install on an Eco? Will they void the warranty of my car if I install them? Does anybody have pictures of the install? Thanks in advance guys

Also just how bad is the vibration after installing both uppers and lower? Will it lessen the life of the car, since the chasis is now feeling all these constant vibrations?
Re: Motor mounts?
Tuesday, March 01, 2005 4:27 PM
Vibration is not really all that bad, if you have a modded car IE lowered and exhaust .. those already added vibrations to the ride .. these will not add anymore than that.

Yeah, for that 0.xxxx seconds it takes for the engine to rock back when launching.

All motor mounts do is give you a more direct feeling of the road and engine. That and vibration.
Tranny mounts supposedly give you a smoother shift.
