I'm fairly new to this board. Just registered but have been lurking for 3 or 4 months and I just have to get something off my chest.
I've been looking for a few things for my Cav and have been checking out the classifieds section. I've written probably 20 different people about things they have for sale and have gotten a grand total of 2 responses!
I can see if I'm replying to old ads but I've responded to ads that are anywhere from 2-3 days to only a couple of hours old. Are they selling the stuff that fast??? If so, how about a courtesy letter saying "sorry sold" or something to that effect? Guess that would take a whole 5 seconds to do.
If it's not sold how do they expect to sell anything by NEVER answering emails when someone obviously wants to buy it from them???
Of course there are the people who have no email or phone number listed in the ad or their profile...... yea good luck getting ahold of them!

2 - be careful with people in classifieds do research before you buy from people ( dont wanna hear about someone else being scammed)
3 - fill out your registry if you wanna anywhere around here
4 - if they dont respond to you are they the people you really wanna deal with anyways?
5 - did you come to thsi site just for the classifieds?
by the way...you complain about emails not getting answered but you dont even have your email in your registry....kinda a hypocrit if you ask me
sometimes emails from the org get sent to the junk mail folders (when they use the contact info you provide) it's happened to me numerous times when selling stuff

Excellent advice. Always try to do as much research as possible ESPECIALLY if you are even considering sending someone money before you get the item.

No. Actually I've been doing tons of research on the forums regarding topics such as suspension, wheels, performance, etc. etc. etc.

Just thought it might cut down on SPAM by not publicly listing my email address. I've noticed on other message boards I belong to that when I list my email address my inbox mysteriously gets fllooded with SPAM.

If I am going to deal with someone making a purchase or selling them something I always direct them to my feedback on Ebay to assure them I am on the up and up.

sorry lol was typing fast and left a few words out...that one about the registry was just just saying that you should fill it out with all of your info - ie cars - personaal info - etc that way people on this site can look in your registry and see what car you have etc and help you....and you wint receieve spam from your email being listed publicly .. mine has been listed for over a year and i dont receive any spam

You have a profile... It contains personal information, contact information, and car information. Please fill this out as it aids everyone you talk to. Not only was we can reach (like email that you are complaining about) but also if you ask a question about your car, your profile provides an easy way for us to see exactly what you have, and we are all used to the format it is displayed so it simplifies things a lot.

Seriously?? Mine's unlisted as well, for much the same reason. Don't want it available to spam robots.
When you use the contact link, it sends to the user's email. If they then respond back to you... well then you'll have their email address if it's that important to you.
Having the private email address is not something to hold against someone.
lol its different with somoene like you WW ...your prem.. a mod...and have been around for a while.
if you just come to this site and it looks like your trying to "hide" your info then your not gonna get much sold or bought

Oh, I agree wholeheartedly there. I don't think anyone should even consider buying from people who are not established or have very well known references. Research is key!
I'm just saying that having the email address hidden isn't of itself any sort of warning sign.

That's why I think Ebay is a good source of information for buyers and sellers. You can refer people to your feedback and they can decide if you are credible or not.
If you don't do any business with Ebay I'm not really sure how else you can trust someone unless you know them personally. Anyone have any other sources they can think of?
It's not like we're a bank and can run a credit check through Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. LOL

Sorry, I'm a naturally born smartass so if someone makes a smartass comment towards me I consider them an open target.
He does have cool fenders though. No sarcasm about that. It's just that I saw those hubcaps and literally did laugh out loud. He's probably saving for rims. Young kid and all. Me personally would have gone for the wheels before the fenders but to each their own.

You bought my HO mani and my email is unlisted
. I like having it unlisted I've yet to get a nigerian spam letter from things I've had in the classifieds.
