The only reason I am posting this is because a friend and I have a debate about whether or not this thing actually does anything or is it a good waste of gas money. (I'm also referring to the ones that you see on ebay and stupid "peformance" websites that sell for somewhere around $50.)

Not only does it not do anything beneficial, it could end up being the end of your engine if things go wrong.

be careful with stuff like that, there are MANY scams of this sort that claim to improve horsepower and gas mileage. the only truly inexpensive way to save a considerable amount of gas is to be lighter on the pedal. and any true turbocharger, supercharger, or significant means of increasing horsepower, will NEVER be that cheap.

Tell your friend to do that. And it is cheaper than an electric SC!! haha
i got dual electric blowers runnin 1.5 psi at 20k rpm.
damn those thing were worth it.
