hes talking about the rev limiter not the speed limiter moron
Plain useless on a stock engine/cams.
Stand alone or a reflash are the only way. both cost too much to be worth it.

You should really update your registry. You don't appear to even have a car, much less one with a rev limiter.

well my 2.4 is an automatic and is REV. limited to around 4,500 rpms and was wanting to set it higher.
are you red lining it in park??? if you are thats a bad thing to do.

lol no my redline is around 7,000 rpms
7000??? LOL
i think its more like 6400.

Stock rev limit is at 6250 according to my owner's manual. And on a stock engine, you have no reason to exceed that- over-revving a stock engine = replacing a stock engine. You said you drive an automatic- are you talking about the rev limit, or the shift points? Cause the shift points can be changed with a trick shifter module. I think B&M makes one. I wouldn't know, I gots the 5-speed
.
I may not be the sharpest crayon in the box, but at least I'm a pretty color
well the atuo is my aleroand she isnt all stock.
and my 03' cavi is a 5 speed.
In that case, the rev limiter is set by the ECU, or PCM, or whatever the heck they're calling it these days. Check around some performance sites, they should have something that'll help.

why do you need it higher anyway?

well when i run the alero down the track it bogs out around 6200 rpms when i know it could do a little better.
as forth in park just wanting to rais it alittle, see if i can get a higher DB out of my muffs!

do you have any mods to the engine that will allow it to rev higher. There is a reason your engine is rev limited to 6250. The stock parts are not designed to be rev'd higher. And if you want more power to come from that high of an RPM, but a header and some additional breathing parts, not just some "muffs"
well I have an injen cold air intake, and i am waiting on my header to get here.
I understand that i need more, so that is why i have been puting more on it. i just installed a O2 simulator for the rear O2 sensor. RK sports claims dyno proven results of 15 extra HP and 25 TQ. i have noticed a difference since i installed it.
Is he talking about the O2 simulator.......................................................??????????????????
if you want your engine to have a higher rev limiter ... you need ALOT of new internals, as far as i know... valve train modifications, destroking, etc. MSD ignition system cannot bypass your stock rev limiter, it can only set a lower one. Reflash cannot remove your rev limiter. The only way I know of is something like the AEM EMS. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.
Guys he has an auto tranny! Auto's are not like a 5 speed when it comes to reving the engine.
With a 5 speed you can pop it into netrual or hold in the clutch and take the RPM's up to about 6500 and leave it there untill you blow the engine or run out of gas.
In an auto, if you put the car in park or netrual and rev the engine, you can only reach 4K. Once you hit that, the RPM's bounce between 3800 & 4k. The auto tranny still has roughly the same redline point as a 5 speed, just the computer
WILL NOT let you get past 4K unless the car is in drive, 1,2 or 3. You can do whatever you want to the inner workings of the engine, the simple fact is the you would still be stuck with the 4K rev limator. The only way around that is to have the computer reflashed or install a standalone.
and btw, if you have it in drive and try to rev the engine, the breaks start to slip at about 2K
accually deadbob your dead on the money with the auto! lol
And thats what im trying to get around
