but im wondering...i have a 2001 sunfire GT...and the only way i know to open the trunk is on the remote...is there no other button inside? i havent really looked but i figure it wud be in plain view
nope, i have a 2k1 also. 00 has them. 02 has them. GM just somehow forgot trunkreleases in 01. i cant understand it either. You have two options. get one form a junkyard and run it(more difficult). Or you and trace the black w/ white stripe wire that runs up the drivers side into the kick panel and sp[lice it. then hook up a switch to that wire and a 12v source. this triggers the actuator in the trunk. hope that helps.

00 didn't have them either unless you didn't have the remote. Then they had the floor-pull one.
It was in 02 that they finally put a button back inside the car.
It's easy enough to wire up your own and you can buy the button from any dealer for around $5 with the little open trunk icon on it.
Ive heard a "rumor" that if you honk twice and hold the #1 preset button for 5 seconds that it will pop the trunk??? True or not??

yeah but in 01, no matter what option you do not have a release inside the car.
They actually have a "trunk" button. i might look into that. what does it look like?

i have a 98 cavalier, and it doesnt have a inside trunk release...only on the remote.....kinda retarded...

My '00 LS with remote does not have a button to open the trunk while in the car.
same with my 97, id have to say its pretty retarded
