i just took my intake resonator out today. Wouldn't it make more sense to leave it in since there is a tube facing the front of the car to allow more air to come into it? Now the hole where the air would be forced up is facing the ground. Wouldn't less air get into the engine bay now? Maybe some of you can explain this better to me. Thanks
Also, I just installed an aem short ram intake. Do I need to oil the filter? It never said in the instruction manual. Thanks
It does not matter that the opening faces forward, the twists in it are too restrictive. As for the opening pointing down, remember something - the engine is a pump, it sucks air in. It really does not matter which direction it is pointing, you will still get the same amount of air into the engine. Even if you go through all the trouble of doing a ram-air setup, you will still be getting relatively the same amount of air into your engine.

i got a air filter out of an 05 cav in a junkyard... car only had 600 miles on it or so... anywho, the guy gave me the filter for free and it look BRAND new.... do i, or should i, need to oil it before i put it in??

Ha ha... you guys... around here, where there's two or three J's on every block.. there are cars with less miles than that in the wrecking yards. People in Vancouver don't pay attention... there's a car in the yard with 167 kms on it... 05.. but it's a base model. What would you want from a base model?

if you're really concerned you can get the recharge kit from K&N. it comes with a chemical cleaner and a reoiling kit that'll make your filter almost like new.

Are you talking about a K&N filter or an OEM paper filter?
You can not oil an OEM style filter. They are disposable.

I agree. Regular OEM style filters are disposable therefore need not to be oiled. You should get a K&N like me! Outlast ur car baby! And it sounds nice

junkyards around here are letting low mileage ecotec engines go for around $200.00-
$400.00 . perfect place to start building a blower motor. get the forged rods a ported
head ( or port yourself not very hard ) throw on a couple custom ground crower cams
( only $400.00 for the pair from crower brand new not regrinds ) install your shinny new
blower and say hello reliable 300+ horsepower. this is what im doing right now

and yes, the cav is an 05... its been rolled, the roof and front end is GONE. it is an LS model, the trunk lid is in good condition, the rear bumper is cracked just a bit, and the interior is a mess...
i do have another question.... how do i go about getting the handles off of the car? or should i just paint the ones on my car?
godsspeed if you can painted handles get them mine weren't and i've painted them
twice now. for some reason paint doesnt like to stick to that textured stuff.
and before anyone says anything yes i primed them. dont know why it wont stick.
