different size rim for tire..

I'm new, so this may have been asked or else maybe you all just know better than to ask.
I am currently riding on the 195/65/15 tires that came with my cav. I have a new set of tires (same size) but need some summer rims.
My original choice were sold out, so I have a second pick but they are 15x7.
Seeing as my tires are 6.5, is this impractical and/or a bad move... or can I get away with it without any troubles?
Thanks.

With the 7 inch rims you probably want to go with a larger tire. I have 7.5 rims and i'm running on 215s, and they're a little slim. So you probably want to stick with the 6.5s since you already have the new tires. Just my advice.

I remember my car guy saying that 195/65/15 tires I had could hold a 15x7 rim. he seemed confident. ask a shop, they'll tell ya for free

No problem. The half an inch isn't gonna be a problem. If you had 15x8 then I'd be concerned but those will be fine.

run a bigger rim with a bit larger tire it might fit but it'd be a tight squeeze
