We dont want the people that makes themselves look like idiots be able to go back and change it so they dont. It takes all the fun away.

you only been here about 5 months before me, so do that mean in 5 months i'll have my own edit button?

heh. Don't tease the noobs, PCS!!!

Incidentally, I'm still solid in my position as fully opposing an edit feature. More bad than good will come of it, especially with this many people.

bah.

there should be an edit button with a limited window in which it can be used. beyond that, tough luck.

On a music board that I'm a member of...we have an edit button, but we also have an additional field where we have to list why we are altering our original posts...kind of unique really.

Yes like a 10 min window. Just enough time to go back and read your post. Of course if everybody previewed there would be no need for an edit button.

You shouldn't be able to edit after someone has responded, I have seen forums like that.

Re: edit button

why not being able to edit until the next person posts? most people check their posts right after they post them (even though there is a preview button), so that'll give em a chance to change before someone says something... after that, there's really no point in changing anyway.....

if you can take 10 minutes to go back and re-read what you posted, you can just as easily proof read it before you hit the post button while it's still editable in the message box.

imo, using an edit button because you were too lazy to proof read is bad. the only reason i can see an edit button being a useful feature is if information needs to be updated, rather than corrected. even at that, a new post is probably a better way of alerting people to an update, because most people aren't going to go back and check previous posts to see if it's been edited. if you honestly need something corrected/edited/updated for any reason, just get ahold of one of the moderators and we'll edit it for you.
