I noticed that there are way more automatic cavalier being hooked up then manual
and the automatics are way slower since the gear ratios are diffrent
i think thats way cavalier are aren'y highly respected
what does everyone else think

it hurts me to say it but its because cavlaiers are grocery getters. not many old ladies or family moms want a manual tranny. but yeah the 4 speed autos can run with 5 speed manuals. thats just my opinion.

for starters its not the gear ratios... its the fact an auto transmission take a small bit of power to run.... manuals dont.
automatics arent WAY slower and many believe.
automatics, and quite a few here have been beefed up to run just as fast if not faster AND more consistent than manuals.
really it boils down to how much knowledge you have in modifying your transmission...
and the reason these cars get no respect is because of lazy modders who do basic boltons but pretend their car can hang with the likes of supras and NSX's....
and like said above, these are economy cars basically meant for grocery getting, however a few people have made them do highly respectable things...
most people would rather sit around and feel they should get respect based solely on the make and model of their car.
you want respect, mod your car to where people respect it.
respect is earned.
My 2000 Cavalier Z24 used to run 13.8's... and it was an automatic.
Someone count for me, the number of 5 speeds that are faster than that. I'll wait.
