im not sure what its called but in order to replace it you would have to take your whole dash apart if i remember corectly and u also have to take everything including your vents and duct work. theres alot to it but if i do remember from reading post i the past its a part of the whole dash and it cant just be replaced

Its the lower dash, and its a HUGE piece. It actually forms the same piece of plastic that your glove box is made out of, and the plastic below the steering wheel.

umm at least on the 2001 z24 the top peice came off without pulling the steering wheel
there are bolts that hold the top piece on
they are on both sides of the dash under the panels
and inside the glove box, takes about 10 minutes to remove

You're talking about taking off the dash pad. They're talking about that part up by the windshield, which is part of the lower dash and a whole lot more complicated to remove.

On the Sunfire, it's a seperate trim piece that pops right off.

Sunfire interior swap? Like said above, super easy to pop off on a Sunfire, shame its bad on the Cavalier. Guess the interior quality is something that ive liked about the Sunfire vs the Cavalier.

Is there any advice on how to at least make it look better, without covering it with fabric, like melting the cracks closed or something??? Is there a plastic bondo type thing?

I'd get some vinyl that matches the dash pad and just lay it over top. I've never looked too closely at them to tell if there's room to tuck down the edges but if there is, you could glue it all down and it would look perfect.

there is plenty of room to tuck all the edges, but i cant find auto vinyl like what is on the dash...does anyone know where to look, i would need about 6 feet by 1 foot to be safe...

I found some on ebay, I think I'll go with black instead of trying to match the grey, the instrument pannel, cd, and all of that are black, so i think it'd be better to go with that then to have to obviously different shades of gray so close together...any opinions?

What i think i am going to do, instead of matching anything, i am going to put "wet" looking vinyl over it, and center a red chevy logo in the middle, to kind of make it look like its supposed to be like that...
