i have a set of coilovers what else do i need to lower my cav?
nothing put them on your car??
5 seconds to find another street...
o just wondering if i needed struts or something..i have no idea
ok, ill be the first to say it. search dude. and read all the FAQ's
but i will also be helpful if i can.
what you need is to be a little more specific. are they cheap ebay coilovers which are going to probably fuc k up your car, or are they good quality ones made by a company such as ground control, or something along those lines? if they are cheapo ebays, searching wouldve provided you with many many MANY threads related to cheap ebay coils, and how they will hurt your car, and maybe even you, more than they will make be functional. searching wouldve also provided you with some good strut setups that are suggested when lowering. up to 1.5" of drop the strut choice is KYB AGX, most anything else is just a stock replacement and will blow shortly after installation (say a couple of months). anything lower than 1.5" of drop the strut of choice would be either tokico d-specs, or Koni Yellows. the preference ive noticed seems to be konis, but tokicos are just as good. the reason for this is because KYB only warrantees that strut for 1.5" of drop. any lower and they might blow. again, searching and reading the FAQ's wouldve saved much time in the process youve chosen of modding youre suspension. please do it next time and good luck with youre setup
below is a link to the FAQ on lowering, you WILL find this helpful in your situation
clicky
again good luck
!
one more thing... modding your car the rite way WILL be expensive, if you do it the rite way. dont cheap out, or you might be doing things in a way which might hurt yourself. a general rule of thumb is anything for suspension on ebay, that isnt a known quality name brand, is probably too good to be true(such as the BOMBZ racing coilovers for $25 or whatever theyre selling at... engine performance, on the other hand, can be the complete opposite in some situations. i have a cheapo ebay intake, and paid 40 for it, and couldnt be happier. but its a different situation. search and read the faqs and you shall not be dissapointed with all the information you can find for yourself
o wait. this is the newbies forum... im sorry for being so harsh man, i didnt realize where i was typing... im a tool man, my bad, lol.... i couldve sworn this was suspension forum... god damn retartedness... i swear im not usually that harsh in this forum...

no, you need new struts when you lower your car. lowering on stock struts is not safe for the fact they will blow and a bouncy suspension is no good at all

and im glad you thought so. no prob.
dont forget ur spring compressors, i would hate to see u try and removie the old ones with out one, u can get them at a local auto zone for liek 10 buck rental fee
No need for a spring compressor. You're a sissy if you use one.
A good pair of C clamps and a 200+ lbs guy will do the job.

This is pretty crappy advice to give to a noob!
It's ALWAYS a good idea to use spring compressors.
