Hi, I'm 16 and i just bought my first car an 03 sunfire. I want to get some blue or white headlights to start out with but i can't find any H9s(low beam) or H11s(high beams) at any parts store in my town and i cant find any on the internet. If anybody could help me out with this id appreciate it. and any other suggestions as to what I should do with my car. Thanks

Salvaina SIlver Stars are good. but on the pricey side. you can get those at Wal-mart or even your local auto store

far as a starting point. some start with an intake. i started with suspension. but seeing your only 16 i think it would be wiser to save your money

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!

Silver stars are good jumping off point, then upgrade to HIDs later if you want. The best thing for you to do for your car is to just start reading all you can on this forum. There is a lot of information on here and the more you know about your car the easier it will be to do the upgrades/ make decisions on upgrades.

If you are looking for color in the H11s the Nokia bulbs are nice..if you want more light output go with the PIAA bulbs.

The best 2 things you can do for your car is:
1. Read the forums, especially the FAQs and How-Tos.
2. Work alot and save your money, modding is expensive.

Hi
I live way out in the country in New Hampshire and I'd like to do something about my 03 sunfire headlamps. As you know the low beams are on all the time and their light is distinctly brownish yellow. I heard that halogens tend to go out over a long time rather than like a light bulb in a table lamp, but I don't recall the source and if it was a commercial I would believe it about as much as if George Bush called me up and told me about it.
I need something that is much brighter and whiter and with a longer throw if possible, because you never know what the @!#$ is coming out of the bushes. Twice I've hit a deer, and they do a crapload of damage, and the roads are full of skunks and foxes and raccoons at night.
For the main beams I want something spectacularly blue-white; the kind that make my wife piss her pants because she thinks it's a Kopper on her tail. They are angled slightly wider which is fine because it gives me a chance at least to see a deer up ahead sticking his nose out of the bushes, but it's great for lighting up Koppers hiding in the bushes or behind gates because Kuntry Koppers have no crimes to solve so the @!#$ have to create them.
If I can save a little but still get some decent low beams (can't you get 100-watt bulbs instead of 55 whine groan moan?) I can spend a bit more on the mains because they will last forever I guess. I see the Sylvania Silver Star at 50 a pair, but I'd rather not take Sylvanias word for it that they are super-duper hands-down the best. Might be; might not be.

I was also wondering about the little "fog lamps" They are pretty useless as they are. If I recall, if you have them on with your low beams, when you put your main beams on they go off, and I can't recall if you have to go to the effort of firstly remembering you have them and secondly being bothered enough to reach forward and turn them on. I was in AutoZone yesterday and I found some small 100-watt halogen bulbs that looked like they were designed for those little lamps. I believe they are Hella HB1s, but there is no picture. Thing is, I could put 100 watters in there and it would be fine...as long as I remember to turn em on. What I need is a way to make sure that if they are going to go off with the main beams on, they come back on when I go back to low beams only without having to turn them on and on and on and on.

I did think about vampire tapping into the wires for the low beams, but you have to be careful that does not put too much current draw on the low beams and melts the insulation off their wiring. Done something like that before. Scary. Then there is the extra heat the 100s would generate. I thought about drilling a few small holes in the back of the housing for some ventilation. Should be ok then. But I don't want to mess about with them unless I can have them on with the low beams all the time.

Suggestions and ideas please?
Thanks Phil

Wow you must really love to type. Sylvania Silverstar and PIAA bulbs will be your best bet for more output from your low beams.
