Top 5???

Dang....i run 10.3's and i could improve my 60' easy!! Just there is so many ppl at the track when i go that i dont get to run over and over til i do it!!

So your saying if I run a 10.0 1/8 im in the top 5 fastest 2.2's (n/a)??

Im going for it!!

I have Intake (stock airbox with 2$ filter)
obx header
catco cat
2.25 cat back with elcheeepo muffler
UD pulley
accel wires
smoothed out the TB (not ported)
and ummm, a centerforce clutch (dual firction ....used for nitrous)

Ive ran a 10.32 once and lost of high 10.3's. I went friday with my 17's on and managed a 10.44.

Im gonna have to throw the 14's on the front, stiffen up my struts and launch perfect.

heheh. Them's the breaks, eh?

Time to get back out there and run a better time. The whole 2.2 OHV N/A class is some pretty tight competition!

Thanks for the insight guys. I'm gonna run it again in a few weeks after I install my rksport crank pulley and fix my exhaust....should get a better time....might also lower my tire pressure too. Didn't know that my car ran a time fast enough to make the list....in fact I didn't even know there was a list....

Ok Kevin, let me just try and find my Cavalier again and run it,

I sold her more than a year ago, the guy that bought it is using the motor for his Sunfire, fully built with all the bells and whistles. I drive a Wrangler now. I can still brag a little since I am still the only 3 speed automatic in that honor roll group.

blackcavygod: The pulley will help you out a little bit, I noticed a good jump in acceleration when I installed my cav connection pullies (alt and crank). Nice times again man, now it is time to get them lower, .

Did you ever think about running down at the Cecil County dragstrip? I am not sure how long of a hike that is for you. I am usually down there on Fridays for their drags.

Have a good one,
Justin

Where is the Cecil County track located? I'll come down if its not too too far. I've driven to buds creek before and that wasn't that bad. Just email me some info on it and i'll email you back when i'm coming down.

my girlfriend's faster than you!
if you didn't notice this is the OHV not the ecotec

nice times... the head work is always what breaks the OHV into the 15s... keep up the good work, when I get a new clutch I'll be the new #1 fastest ohv

Headwork....really? I honestly didnt know if it would wake up the ole 2.2 or not. I have a friend that runs a machine shop and i have 2 extra heads. Are ya'll shaving it any (lower than resurface) and are ya just port matching the exhaust ports with the header? What are ya'll doing for the intake side?

Not trying to get off topic...just curious!

The most important part is the Short Side Radius and Bowl(including the valve seats) areas. About 70% of the flow increases come from these areas, but more fowl will com from the rest.

To learn more read:
http://www.sa-motorsports.com/diyport.shtm
and

Both are excelent reads.

I didn't do the port job to the head myself, but I did warp the head which forced me to remove it, which I then forced myself to have it ported and polished.

This is a bit beyond just a port match however.

Again, I'm not sure of the specs, but they smoothed around the valve seats, 5 angle valve job, enlarged the intake and exhaust ports. Unfortunately I didn't have the combustion chambers polished.. I'm kind of regretting it, but the car picked up 5 tenths with the head port alone... from a 16.2 to a 15.7

I'm confident the car has more in it if I ever replaced the clutch n flywheel and got some better tires... but yes porting the head really does wake up the OHV

The head on my car is only ported and polished on the exhaust side, head is also milled 5/1000ths......thats it. I didn't know if you could port and polish the intake side due to the plastic manifold....but i've read that you can port out the manifold.....anybody know that to be true or should I just buy the rsm manifold?

Dan,
What was your 1/8th mile time and 60ft time on that 13.3 run?
I have a 2200 with a T3/T4 using the Cavalier Connection header, and my best 1/8th mile trim is a 8.42. I might go to the 1/4th track next Friday to see what it can do.
