I have a 1998 pontiac sunfire 2.2l. and i am going to race it at this speedway near my house in the spectator drags. The catch is that the race is in reverse. that is to say that you back up the hole time. I watched lots of others do it and there is a prize for first so i need ideas as to how to get my car to haul ASS in reverse. Basicly the point of this race is to go as fast as possible in reverse. ANY ideas will be helpful as to how to get my car to go faster in reverse.
hptuners and raise the speed limiter for the reverse
oh also might want to flip directional tires backwards, may get a better launch.... idk if launching in reverse is good tho
are the hp tuners expensive, or is it something a sledge hammer could cure lol. also do shops have those tuners? do u think they charge a lot to do that?

Well, since you are limited to the gearing in reverse (unless you want to start changing gear ratios and whatnot in the trans internals), you are going to be limited to around 29-30 mph in reverse since you will, essentially, be in first gear the entire way.

ill definetly put a vid up for this but until then, its possible to redo the gearing in the trani? is trani work really hard, or is it easy enough so that someone with a reasonable amount of mechanical skill could figure out?
have fun fixing the tranny after a few runs, sounds like it would be extremely hard on it!!
i think me and my brother are gonna try to rip into the trani, ill let you know how it turns out. any more ideas? keep em coming. also i think im gonna put bigger tires on because it should increase the top speed.

HAHA its not just one race or it wouldnt be worth it. its every friday. also to the comment about it destroying the tranni, you'd be suprised how much @!#$ these cars can take b4 they stop moving. If the car stops running it isnt a big deal cause i am planning on junking it anyway because the computer is @!#$ as it is. A lot i know but worth it for the prize money. Well if its every friday, find a way to flip the trans/engine around so you'd have all forward gears available (and rear wheel steering)

thanks for the sig tip, didnt know there was a rule. As far as turning the trani around i considered this but i have to check into the rules first. I might be able to do it cause my buddy is nasty with rigging up @!#$ like that.

Seems to me it would be way too easy to put a car into the walls doing this. I don't know if the track repair would be worth the entertainment value of this.

This is done on a little speedway. Its a scailed down version of a nascar track almost. As far as repairs to the track, the entire track is lined with GIANT front loader tires so the worst that could happen is you wreck your car wich to be honest with you that wouldnt bother me to much anyways if i did.
