Court documention reveals which Fiats and Alfas are destined for U.S.

Curious which of its models Fiat plans to send over to the United States to sell through its planned partnership with Chrysler? Wonder no more. The most recent set of documents filed in Chrysler's Chapter 11 proceedings offer a number of intriguing clues as to what we can expect to see in the coming years.

Tom LaSorda, current ChryCo Veep, suggests that Fiat has agreed to assemble a vehicle using its C-EVO platform at one of Chrysler's underutilized U.S. plants. Further, Robert Manzo, executive director of Capstone Advisory Group, has specifically named the Fiat 500, Grande Punto and Panda (tellingly, Manzo called the Panda a Jeep) along with the Mito and Milano from Alfa Romeo as models coming to the aid of Chrysler.

Joining these new models would also be Fiat's 3.0-liter diesel V6 and 1.4-liter four-cylinder Multiair engine line, along with the Italian automaker's dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which would replace the units Chrysler will no longer be receiving from Getrag. The biggest question left unanswered seems to be what will be left of Chrysler's current line?

What I think?

The Fiat 500 is probably going to be sold as a standalone car. Sort of like a cheaper Mini Cooper
The Fiat Panda will be sold as a 4x4 only as a small Jeep.
The Fiat Grande Punto will be Dodge Avenger replacement.
The Alfa-Romeo Mito will be renamed the Dodge Hornet and be a Caliber Replacement, maybe?
The Alfa-Romeo 149 Milano will be the platform for the new Chrysler Sebring... maybe standalone?

Fiat may also intend to sell these models as is except for the Panda. Would make sense to have one Alfa and one Fiat model so they can expand the marque.

If I was them I'd get rid of Chrysler altogether and keep Dodge/Jeep and add Fiat/Alfa to the lineup. Would make the most sense.

I hope so. For all I know they'll keep the ugly as sin Caliber as-is and only replace the Avenger/Sebring. I know for sure that those cars are going bye-bye because the plant that makes them is closing (As is the one making Vipers sadly)

However, I'm sure that we may see some Alfa platform/parts sharing on a future model of the Avenger/Sebring. The current versions are so terrible that even if they were replaced with older Alfa stuff they'd still be ahead of the Malibu/Fusion merely in driving pleasure.

On a side note... how the hell can Chrysler not make money off the Viper? I would think it was foolproof. If your costs are higher than your earnings on the car INCREASE THE PRICE. The Viper is a car bought by people who never check the MSRP. So what does it matter if they increase its cost by 10-20k? Big companies sure are dumb sometimes. They simply can't manage smaller investments like that.

I've been looking forward to Alfa coming to the US for almost a year now.

I wanna see an 8C driving around

Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.
