Cobalt SS O2 simulator?
Tuesday, July 28, 2009 5:00 PM
My dad bought an 05 Cobalt SS last year(has 21K miles on it now). He doesn't really drive the car at all, but when he bought it the previous owner had removed the cat and put a straight pipe in there. The check engine light has been on since. He wants to sell it now to get into something a little sportier but wants that taken care of. He doesn't want to have to take the car somewhere to have exhaust work done on it, so he just wanted to put a sim on it and be done..

But, neither of us have really found one...do they make them for these cars? Where abouts can I order one? Thanks guys.

Yea or an O2 sim like the one ZZP has.

Then there is the even cheaper way

Ive been asked about how to do this process on more than one occasion and have been happy to supply the information. Hopefully someone will add this to the FAQ on turbos to help save some members some time ......

These are NOT my photos but im unsure of who the owner is exzactly. But they do give some very good photos and i hope that they dont mind

You now need to drill out 1 of the non foulers using a 1/2" drill bit. When finished this is what it will look like.

o2 Sensor inserted in the modified non fouler

Second, unmodified non fouler now installed on modified non fouler, then threaded into the downpipe

Just a few options there.

Where do they sell the simulators? I looked on zzp but didn't see them. The pipe has no bung on it so he doesn't want to take it in.

Also, no hp tubers.

Sounds like you really have no choice. Electronic simulators do not work and you don't have HPT. He will either have to take it in to get a bung welded in to run a mechanical simulator set up, like was shown above, or have a cat put back on it.
