Kind of like how the Prius is supposedly so great, but the batteries alone have a HUUUGE carbon footprint. Until we have nuclear energy they are still powering their car with coal.
Didnt they say they were making a sub-compact all electric frame to share with another one of their automotive groups? That's my guess.

The part that struck me as funny, was the car being marketed towards the affluent who want to APPEAR environmentally concerned.

hahaha... that was the first thing I noticed too... "appear"
Because they know that the mpg is a sham and that there's no way to environmentally-friendily recycle the batteries at this time, so they're just being truthful before their diehards call them out on it.

What do you expect, It's BMW, they don't make cars for poor people. Their cheapest vehicle is the 128i coupe @ $29,150.

That would most likely be their Mini brand.
