chipped hood paint, HELP!

well apparently the person who owned this car before me decided it was a good idea to super glue the hood emblems back on the car. so the other day it came off when i was washing it. it was already coming off prior to washing but this is what i found underneith......

so i bought some color matched paint at pep boys to repaint the emblem but i was wondering if yall think that i would be able to repain the actual hood myself? it has good instuctions on the can but im still a lil hesitant to start sanding my hood away.

i wouldnt paint it myself. if you, make sure you have all the proper things needed and know how to paint and prep. i would just suggest putting the emblem back on.

Does that go all the way to the metal, or is it just in the clear coat?

Can't you just cover it up with a new emblem?

I wouldn't use a spray bomb to paint a hood. Besides the paint not being chemically resistant and soon fading, don't know how well it would match or if you could get it to look good. If the emblem doesn't cover it, feather out (basically da sand the spot out a ways to blend it in to the rest of the paint, till you no longer feel edges, and prime if necessary and if the rest of the paint is in good condition, wetsand your primered area with 400-500 grit, and wetsand the rest of the hood with 1000 grit, then take it to the bodyshop who will shoot basecoat on the bad spot and blend it, then clear the whole hood. If your to metal at all, you might want to shoot a little epoxy primer on it.

well unfortunatly i think it did go all the way through, the lightest part on there a the bare hood i believe, there are only a few spot but its enough. so ill prolyl jsut end up putting the emblem on, ill jsut paint it black to match the car so its a lil sleeker, cuz i plan on an aftermarket hood sooner or later.

for John,
are u in the dayton area or do u jsut have some info cuz id be interested? ill prolly jsut cover it up but id rather have the hood bare cuz it jsut looks a lot better. so if u have any more info thatd be great.
