I know this has been posted before but a search came up with nothing. After the worthless tape that comes on th streetfire sides wore off i had the shop that painted my kit put them back on, but they again fell off. I epoxyed them on after that, but one has just come off and the other is on its way. Is it possible or a good idea to screw them on from the inside? Has anyone done that? Thanks guys.

go to a gm dealer and ask them what ever they use to attack them cause all they are is stock pieces im pretty sure its just double sided tape. but there is a little stick of epoxy stuff thing like super glue that comes with the rk kits, clean the area perfectly then spread the stick of epoxy stuff on the spot the tapes going to stick too and give it a second then stick the panels with the double sided tape and itll stick allot more then the tape by itself.
I hope that helps someone may have some other ideas for you though. I dont think I would even consider trying to screw into them.

Use dishsoap on the doors first to make sure you get off all wax and residue. Thats the only suggestion I can think of besides molding them in.

Yeah i prepped the surface with a prepping solution used b4 painting so it should have been clean enough, i just basically want to know if anyone has screwed them on and if they had problems, mainly with rusting after punching holes.

Like one have said already^
I would romove the old tape and put a new 3M two sided tape from home depot (red one). Clean the surface well with mineral spirts then alcohol, that will remove everything for a good long lasting stick.

Maybee you can glass a small block of wood at certain points, then hit it with screws
Oh didnt knwo GM screwed them on, wouldnt have thought they did. I guess maybe its not so bad an idea afterall, just dont use screws that are to long lol that would suck.

Ill have to try some more tape then i guess, but still eould rather use screws, but it seems no one has gone that route. I would imagine if you used short ones, comign from the inside out into the inside of the door panel it wouldnt hurt anything but im not sure if you can egt in there and put screws in.

The pieces RK sells are not the stock GM pieces. They are identical in shape on the outside but very different on the inside and made of a different material.
The GM ones are held by a line of plugs across the top of them and a pair of screws at the back. The bottom is held by 2-sided tape.
With that said, I had my stock ones held on by 2-sided tape for about a year with ok results. Not great, but ok. When it started peeling away, I had plenty of time to notice. It's not like they just flew off one day or something and I had them ghetto-rigged since there were no nice flat surfaces across the top like the RK ones have to tape them with.
Now, with that said, I still recommend screwing them on from the back if you can for a couple reasons. First off, with the proper screws you'll get them secured and know they won't be going anywhere. That's probably the best reason.
Secondly though, by screwing them on from the back you won't have the 1/8" gap along the top that comes from having the tape behind it. I know that sounds petty, but some of us are perfectionists and if we can get it just a little bit better, we'll do it.
I had my stock ones taped on because I wanted them lower on the door by about 1/8" in order to proper line up with the rest of the skirts. For some reason, the RK skirts sat just a tad lower than the stock ones and it didn't look right to me.
Now, after dealing with the hassle of the tape, I've gone back to the stock plugs. I ground out all the holes for them to be oval shaped (extended downward) and then went back to using the plugs. Everything is peachy now and they line up properly.
I also cut into the back of the RK sides and epoxied some of the GM plugs into them to make use of the stock holes. They not fit a lot better than they did with just the 2-sided tape on them.
what you need to do is urethane them on. My friend works at a the detailer at a GM dealer and he usually urethanes body panels on along with using 3m double sided tape. meaning trim peices. Here is the GM part number #10952983 for the urethane cocking gun tube that he uses.
When my car was still under warranty one of my door skins fell off off and he put it back on with 3m and this urethane cocking gun and it has never come off since.
Regards,
thanks guys, weasel i was considering probably just putting a couple in the top and leaving the rest with the tape and epoxy, as the top seems to be the problem area, not to mention the "tape gap" that you get, i also hate that

3M has something called Scotch VHB "very high bond" tape. We use it for hanging certain types of signage. They specifically say for use in place of screws or rivets for long-term outdoor use. I plan on trying it out when I put my car back together in the coming weeks.
