Can the Rear Pillar gap be shaved?
Monday, April 04, 2005 10:50 AM
Im talking about the gap on the pillars between the rear windshiled and the rear side windows. I have everything else shaved or am in the process of shaving everything else, and i dont want that line there, but i dont know if its for flex or if its just another piece thats just there like the piece under the tailights.

Yeah

Will that crack over time, and does it need to be welded or will the kitty hair work?

since the C pillar is made out of plastic, in order to weld it you would have to first make another C piller out of metal. the pic ^^^ belongs to jason@aplus. thats his car. you should ask him how to do it. i would imagine body filler like fiberglass jelly would work fine. and if done right, there shouldnt be any flex there so i cant imagine it would crack

Thanks for the help, i didn't know that piece was plastic. I will use some fusor and then the kitty hair over that just to make sure it will hold.

Just wondering. But say someone smashes out your window. how are you going to replace it if its molded in or welded? If I remember correctly when some kids tried to break into my cavalier and smashed that window out, When the autoglass company came out he removed that to access the window.. I could be wrong

^^^ If someone did that then i wouldn't have to worry about driving my car anymore because i would be in prison for killing that sob. If it happens accidentally then that will suck really bad and i will have to repaint most of the car so i will just change it completely and repaint. Thanks for pointing that out tho.

most people aren't going to bother with smashing out that quarter window... if anything, they will smash out the window in the door for easy access.

I like how that looks where it meets the quarter panel but not so much where it meets the roof.

It just breaks up that line which normally flows from the decklid and up and over the car. It doesn't look right to me. I think it flows better with the line there.

Side Pic

You can kinda see where I molded in the upper and lower lines on the sail panel...

Thanks for all of the help, im just going to mold the bottom line on them. Like wild weasel said, i think the top line makes the lines of the hood and decklid flow together better. I am going to be molding my kit next saturday, and most of its urethane so i will just use the same stuff for the pillar. I'll post pictures of the kit and pillars molded after its done.
