well, believe it or not, it happened. I was driving down the street and there was a trooper behind me for quite a while. I saw he was behind me so I made sure I was doing the speed limit, then all of a sudden I see his stupid lights flashing. so i pull over. comes up to me and asks for my license and proof of insurance. he comes back and asks me if this is my car, so i say yes. then he says that my plates didnt match my car, so im all like wtf. Turns out that since I have the 03 tail lights, and my car is a 97, he thought that i just got some plates and put em in my car just to drive it. anyway, after proving to him that my car is in fact the 97 cavalier, not an 03, he let's me go. he told me that my car looking like an 03 was a reason for suspicion, in other words, that I couldve stole a new cavalier, and put on some old cavalier plates on it so i wouldnt get caught. anyway, what do u guys think, was he just bored and had nothing better to do, or is it really probable cause?
my headlights are till the old one, which ill change soon, so does that mea ill get pulled over every time a cop scans my plates? note: he was behind me, that's the reason why he couldn't see my older style headlight, only the rear.
im sure he was thinking that it's better to err on the side of caution... so he pulled you over. big deal, at least you didn't get a ticket for anything.

^ lol me too, yeah good thing I didnt get a ticket. the funny thing is that he pulled me over for that, when I don't have an exhaust and he didnt even mention it, lol.
maybe an 03+ cavi in the area recently got stolen.

Yeah, you should be thankful that he's doing his job and trying to fight actual crimes rather than just collecting speeding taxes.

im not worried, just found it weird. suppose you have a radical tail light conversion (s2000 or something), is there some kind of law that would let a cop pull you over for that, or is it even illegal or something?
Not illegal. He was making sure your car wasn't stolen!
Stealing cars is illegal so suspicion that the car is stolen is reason enough to pull you over.

in fact, i got another front bumper on the way, a celica one. I like it better than the supra one. well, my whole car got a make over, ill post in the photos and media section in like 2 or 3 weeks. check out my registry for my modifications. but yeah, i found it kind of odd, but oh well.
I also think it was good that he was trying to fight crime. Good for him. Also proves that he's not just another punk cop when he DIDN'T site you for the lack of exhaust.

why are you worried about getting a ticket if the car belongs to you and you have diff year tails that are still dot approved?
your lucky...in this county, the cop woulda found something to ticket you for just so he didnt waste his time pulling you over. they always find something...

I got pulled over for having a kandy apple red car
my insurance still says it's black
and of all places to get pulled over it was at a gas station
yeah im VERY surprised he knew the difference. but the biggest surprise was that he didnt ticket you or give you crap for something. i think most cops would have tried to make some BS up about "well you cant do that blah blah" or "well you were speeding blah blah" just so they didnt look stupid for pulling you over. overall, i would be glad to have cops like that around here (as long as they didnt hassle people)
