Painted Door Handles
Wednesday, June 01, 2005 7:38 PM
I have a 2000 cavalier 2 door base, it has black door handles and im taking it in to get some more body work done next friday and I told the guy I wanted the door handles painted silver too. I think it will look nice but I havent see it. I know some cavaliers came with the door handles already painted so I dont wanna see a picture of those but I was wondering if any of you could show me a picture of yours painted and if you had any problem with them. Thanks.

When I had my car repainted I never had any problems with the handles painted. I had the mirrors done as well.

mine looks like the one above only w/cooler rims

but i painted the handles, mirrors, and that pillar thing on the door white, and i love it.

flows so much better than having that big black thing on ur door.

I actually don't like how the car looks with the B-pillar and the mirror mount painted. I think it looks better with the window area all black as a single unit.

Here's a pic of mine. Definitely get the handles and mirror housings painted.

Note that the ones that come with painted handles actually use different handles meant to be painted. If you're painting the stock ones, make sure they sand them smooth and prep them properly. I've seen them turn out perfect and I've seen them turn out pretty shoddy. I actually got new handles (the smooth ones) when getting mine done. Didn't feel like throwing the dice.

Wow I really like the way your guys cars look...I think I'll tell him to paint the mirrors too when I drop it off next week. I'm having the trunk shaved and some stupid body kit cracks fixed, more braces added for the kit, and some paint that blew off painted on. (its poly urethane, not a crappy paint job.)

Wild Weasel, did you go trough GM and purchase them or did you have them painted?

if you went through GM, how much did it cost you?

Had my un-painted handles painted and they turned out nice and smooth. Also with a body kit i think getting the mirror mount painted looks better and makes the car look finished overall. Just my opinion

I got them from the dealer. I seem to recall them being around $60 CAD each. It was pricey... but since I wasn't paying for the paint I figured I could splurge on the handles. Paint was free since other stuff was being done at the same time anyway and they weren't going to charge me for the extra effort of spraying a couple handles that didn't need any prep.

Why go through the work of re-painting them when you could just shave them off like i did.
