Well, I finally have my Streetfire kit and plan on installing it 2maro. I was just wondering what I needed to modify to make the bumpers fit? I have heard people talk about the crush guard. What does this look like and what do I need to do to modify it to make my bumpers fit. Also, any other help would be apprciated. I know some people had problems lining up the bumpers. Any suggestions or tips would be great since I have never done this before. Thanks.

Crushguards. Big, black, rubber, looks like a honeycomb. On my sunfire, the back ones were riveted on, the front one was bolted on. I took it completely off for my kit to fit. Get a friend or two to help you hold things and drill and bolt things, makes it go so much easier.
Beat it like it owes you money
Aight, thanks. I'll try it today I hope if I can find people and see how it goes. I will probably be back. Also, I have the clear turn signals, what bulbs do I need to put in these. They need to be amber ones.

my buddy didn't take his off at all man..it fits fine~
you dont need to take off the crush panel for the streetfire kit. i just put one on my g/fs car. fits fine. in fact, it will sag if you take it off. it supports the bumper.

Had your car been in an accident, that you know of? They bolt on replacements...

Which stock bumper did she have? The absorber is bumper-specific so it's likely that the Streetfire bumper is made to match up with one of them and doesn't match any of the others.
If this is true though, then I'd highly recommend getting the proper one for it rather than cutting down an improper one to make it fit.
Aight, I have the kit on. Just a few questions.
1. How do you get the turn signals to stay in place? I dont know how ot attach them.
2. My bumpers seem very flimsy. What can I do to fix this?
Thanks.

you could reinforce the kit with extra fiberglass on the back. i did that to my bc2 kit all the way around. i used woven mat and just some chopped mat in some areas that i thought would have alot of stress. its solid now and doesnt move at all, even when im on the highway. so fiberglass would work if u have a fiberglass kit.
I NEED a 97-99 LD9 engine harness for an auto.PM if u hav info.!!
You know you need GT turn lights right???
My kit flexes some, hell, its quite a bit larger then the stock bumper was, but how firm do you really want it to be???
And per rednine7, the kit is urethane.
oh alright well i have no clue how to reinforce it then. maybe mold some brackets in the back around flex points. i dont kno. good luck man

There was a guy in our club (before he got shipped out to Iraq and his sister sold his car to her boyfriend out from under him and without his prior concent... long story)...
Anyways... he had the streetfire front, and had brackets made by a shop to further reinforce the bumper... long story short... reinforcing with brackets caused a LOT of damage to his car in teh long run. Urethane needs to be able to flex to a point... being too rigid wouldn't be a good thing.
If you left your crush guard/panel/honeycombthing on... that's about as sturdy as you're going to get safely...
Extremefire: I was wondering why my rectangular turn signals wern't fitting in the circular holes, lol. Yea, I have the GT turn signals in place, I just dont know what you are suppose to do to attach them to the kit.
Fallen Angel: Yea, I left my crushguard on. I just wanted to make sure that it was suppose to be like that. I put the kit on myself and I have to get inspected in the next few weeks and just wanted to make sure I wouldn't get in trouble for it being on incorrectly.
So, if anyone knows now to keep the turn signals in place that would be awesome. Thanks.

WildWeasel, car was never in an accident, at least none i know of. If it was, the body shop did an amazing job having the front subframe perfect and factory paint-matched.

I grounded down alittle off of the front crush guard but that was it......Kit fits perfectly fine w/ the crushguards on there....
On mine I ended up reinforcing the sides of the front and back bumper cause they would just flap in the wind......Here are some pics of what I'm talkin about...
][/IMG]
The front bumper we made an aluminum plate to fit and drilled that to the black lining and then to the bumper....
The back bumper we just had to screw the part in the wheel wells down cause they were flapping also....Here's a pic of the back...I know there was already screws on the stock bumper but we added a couple too at the bottom.....
Other than that you should be all set.
Car is for Sale!Supercharger kit is for sale!
Awesome. Thanks bobby, that helps alot. One more thing, how do you mount the turn signals to stay in their holes?

we used the factory turn signals ..there were holes for the signals to go into and we used the factory fasseners also. Its a tough fit because they don't line up PERFECT, but they DO do in!!
Dude...I'm surprised you even GOT this kit on the car after some of the questions you've been asking
Lol...
