uhm yeah, i just got mine back...i am VERY disappointed with the results...around the "2.4l twin cam" just looks HORRIBLE, not polished and yeah very non "show-quality" i called rksport they said to send them a pic of the problem area...im not bitching about them not wanting to do anything about it...i want it tho, im going to keep it...my ?? is..how can i get into the tiny cracks and stuff to get what rksport couldnt polished??? anyone else has this problem with theirs when they got it back?
any imput appreciated

I buffed and painted my own IDI cover with good results.
For tight areas you might want to use a Dremel tool with small buffing pad. A good metal polish and/or white buffing compound, available at most hardware stores, should give you a bright finish.
Did you clear coat it?

No, I didn't clear coat.
It's more work to maintain, but I prefer the look of natural polished aluminum.
Has anyone tried Zoopseal?
My buddy uses it on his Yamaha R1. Polished frame, rims, and pipe. The stuff is awesome. I used to have a picture of the bike. If I find it, I'll post it.

I thought RK had them chrome dipped and not just polished.
Do they just polish them? If so, you might as well just do it yourself.
I think mine was dipped in chrome.. it hasnt had any issues at all

there is NO WAY in hell they dip it in chrome...first off ive been told by many experts that aluminum cannot be chromed...only polished or powder coated
and yes...on mine at least all they did was polish it...and for the most part did a damn nice job...except around the 2.4 twin cam writing....it looks like ASS!
but to get around all them hard to reach corners would be hard i garentee u! but to be completly honest i wish rk sport would put in there ad "sorry cannot get perfect" and charge a much more decent price for it...i mean i paid $230 bux for this...and yeah its at a pro-polishing shop right now getting fixed cuz rk sport couldnt get the job done.
