Well folks, I've got a little bit of a problem and wanted to test the water to see if anyone else has had a similar problem and if anyone out there has advice on taking care of it. I was walking around the back of my car today and noticed the spoiler looked funny. It's faded out more than the rest of the car and is covered, absolutely COVERED in long, small scratches. What gets me is that it's
only the spoiler. Nothing else on the car looks like that.
Cleaning history: Always use Megiars Gold Class car wash in sections, spraying off thoroughly. Waxed several times a year with Gold Class car wax. A few times a year it gets the clay bar and polish. That includes the spoiler. So I'm a bit at a loss as to why that is the only part of the car that has the problem.
If anyone has had a similar problem or ideas on what is causing it, I'm gladly looking for the info. Anyone that has had dulling / scratch problems, any advice on a good product / method for making it any better is also great appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.
my spoiler on my cavalier is the same way. I dont know what it is but yea got that issue as well.

You have a stereo?
chuck norris outran a cavalier. he just stood still.
yeap mine is the same way. I tried buffin it out but it didn't work. i dunno what to do till i paint my car again.
i bought my car new in 01 and by 02 it did that as well, the dealer repainted my wing for me free of cost and it lasted one year again. bought a z24 wing, preped and painted it myself, and there hasnt been a problem since. everyone i know that has a black cavalier seems to have this problem. i guess painting it is the only way to get it to go away, i even tried wet sanding and buffin it. really didnt even help.
wouldn't it work to just take off the spoiler colorsand & then reclear?

Nothing that should account for that. All replacement stuff, replaced CD player and all four speakers. No components, no subs.
I think it's interesting that I'm not the only person with this problem. Makes me think that maybe the paint job was a little skimpy on the spoiler, or perhaps just the clear coat, cause it really does seem to be very superficial, and all of the gloss look that clear coating gives is pretty much gone. I'll try to snap a few shots of it in the next couple days so we can compare what it looks like.
Mine is the same way... no clue why
Mine did the same thing, so I tried mother's back to black and so far its looks good as new
Reality is an illusion caused by lack of drugs
Same thing happens with a lot of the side moldings.
Different suppliers use different paints and some almost certainly cheap out on the process.
