00-02 Crush Guard!!!! NEED IMMEDIATE HELP
Friday, July 21, 2006 1:54 PM
Its a friday an5d most auto recyclers close here around 5 pm central. I have a Sunfire GT and I was wondering if the crush guards were interchangeable for the SE because it is near impossible finding a GT at the junkyards. If not do the 96-00 GT crush gaurds work?

No they're not. Don't answer when you don't know the facts!!

Almost all the absorbers (crush guards) are specific to the bumpers they're made for, ESPECIALLY the 00-02 Sunfires. The absorber is shaped to support the bumper and provide the shape for the top where the openings are. I tried putting my SE bumper on using my GT absorber and ended up cutting massive amounts away just to get it to bolt up. Then it looked kinda gimpy because it didn't have the proper openings. I then bought the SE one to make it proper.

Use the correct one and save yourself the issues.
