you dont glass to metal. if you are doing a frenched plate, they sell boxes that you weld into your lid. cut out the shape on your trunk lid at any angle. cut the box to the depth you want (they come pretty deep so you can make it shallower if you want) and then weld the box in place

What baggedcav said, x2

And as for it being legal or not, I have the slightest idea in your state. I know that it is illegal in my state...cops are too lazy to tilt their heads to read my personalized plates.

if guys in street rods and mini trucks get away with it i dont see why u cant but id check with the local cops first before doing anything like that , and see what ur sate inspection rules are . i know here in PA its not leagle to have your plate in the back window of your car or truck , but if you have one of them cheap raging plates or one with some kinda pet or whatever the cops dont bother you if its in the rear or even if its in the pass coner of the front windsheild

ok not being a dick but what is the appeal in having a tilted plate? i see it every so often around here and think it just ruins the lines of whatever its on. like i knowa few people here with shaved lids and dont get why shave it then kill the lines?

^ It's not something that everyone will love. But I don't see it as ruining my body lines because when we shaved it from the bumper, I think that it made the bumper look 100% better on the car cause it's so smooth and there's no interuptions for the plate. If I had to pick wether I'd want the plate in the bumper or the trunk, I'd definitely say trunk. Plus, it's different...it's custom....and I love mini trucks.

I mean, not everyone loves everything; that's the great part about modding. At least most people's car doesn't end up looking like a clone of another car that way.

yeah the only problem i ever had was i got was i used white led's to light it, the officer was doing ride alongs so i think he wanted to make a non threatning pull over ....he said the lights were too blue (pure white does have a little blue tit, he just told me fix it when i get a chance

never fot to finish before the cav was wrecked

and like bagedcav said...you make or buy a metal box ...cut a hole in your trunk and prolly some of the inner supports...then weld it in (i also re welded the supports in) ...just make sure you plan out your lighting first...i made that mistake

As far as the tint tickets go, you can have it completely black on the rear window as long as you have side view mirrors. Also, I've heard from Kenosha County Sheriff that you can tint the side windows as dark as you want. The only windows that matter are the front two. I'd check into the tint laws a little more or ask some cops around the area.

You couldn't be more wrong. That cop doesn't even know the laws apparently (lucky break for some people).

Wisconsin tint law requires no darker than 50% on the front two and 35% on the quarter glasses and rear glass.

i get the whole mini truck aspect of ti but i mean the tilt still has me baffled. I think frenching things like plates and lights and all that looks great most of the time but the tilting just takes away from the clean look in my eyes. Like for instance Crystal your plate goes right up to the curve of the trunk lid and to me it just doesn't look right to me it would look better if the top of the plate matched the tops of the tail lights. I understand we all have different tastes and like i said im not trying to bash anyone or sound like an ass im just trying to understand where you guys are coming from with this.

I guess that there really isn't a "reason" for tilting the plate other than just cause we wanted to...lol Straight on just seemed a little boring to me.

The same reason these kids around here shave their badges and then put a giant Honda logo vinyl on the rear window. Because they can.
