Does anyone have a reverse camera? Im thinking about getting one, heres the reason, tell me if you think its a good idea.
I have a trunk lid that is shaved, and ready for paint, i need to find somewhere to put reverse lights though. Instead of getting reverse lights, I was thinking about getting one of these camera's with LED's on them, so when i hit in in reverse it turns on, and lights up, or when I press a switch, either way, you get the point, it would mount perfect to my car, there is a re-enforcement going from the bottom of the spare tire well to the bottom of my BC2 rear bumper, that acts as a skid plate so i dont grab anything with the bumper that is made out of an old railroad crossing sign that would be perfect to mount the camera on.
is that a good idea? anyone have experience with these?
I've been wanting to get one, one of those license plate ones though.
even if u did that, it still would be illegal. if i remember correctly you have to have 2 reverse lights, evenly spaced apart and even from the ground
so you'd be trying to follow the law, but not accomplishing anything at the same time.
but otherwise, id like to get one of them cams too

not sure about that, because the mini cooper (type S maybe) has a single reverse light mounted in the middle of the bumper, just about the single centre-exit exhaust.
^^im thinking thats a custom setup. look in this pic from a NY car. theres no center reverse light, and you can see in the tails the small little white reverse lights
my boss has an 03 cooper s and it only has the single reverse light if that helps?
Lanman31337 -F = fatties = do not want. A little chunk in the junk is ok though.
but does it have the 2 outer lights as well??
wonder if its only allowed in certain states? wierd to me!
the cooper s only has the single reverse light the other have them in the tails.
as for the law no you just need a single WHITE light that is bright enough to be noticeable by those in the rear of the vehicle there is a set distance it needs to illuminate but im not sure what it is.

Alexis: Dustin, you're ghey, lol. I am better. I have tits, and tits rule all.
It depends where you live. As far as I know in Illinois, you are not required to have reverse lamps at all. Lots of people I see driving down the street with body kits either it be Cavalier's, Eclipse's, etc I see without backup lamps and no one bothers them. Check with local laws first off.
i know the saturn sky, i work at a dealership, has only one reverse light. im not sure what im going to do, i just thought it was a cool idea, plus i found a 2din CD dvd, blah blah, huge feature pyle for cheap
I have one...
Works pretty good. Paid 50 off ebay its a Pyle.... There's probably better out there though.

hmm not tryign to threadjack, but since were on the subject................
what do u guys think of using these on the side of a car , in order to get rid of the blindspot? maybe even using 2 or 3?
btw, my bro is blind from his right eye, and he just started his drivers' ed. he will soon be getting his license, but were kind of worried of his HUGE blind spot...
there was a show car i saw one time, and instead of side mirrors it used cameras and monitors. the cameras gave a much broader view and virtually eliminated any blind spots, even though it was a show car and wasnt really driven. as for legality, (at least here in ontario) the law states that you need only one mirror providing a clear view of whats behind you, so if you leave the rear view in everything is legit.
