Tubular steel frames

Ok cavi lovers, ive done a pretty good deal of work to my 98 cavi and would like to go extreme. its got 116000 miles on it and its showing its age, id like to make it live on forever but doesn't look good. I wanna chop cut and rebuild it by making a tubular steel sub frame, throw a crate motor of some type in it and air bag it. Only set back is i can not find any place that will make a frame for budget. i have an uncle that is a master welder but does not want to put in the time of designing the frame, does anyone know of a place i can turn to, to get a ready made design that i can follow, i have auto cad experience as well so if need be i can modify or enhance the frame myself but need the dimensions of everything

Any help would be great

You have the ability to do this but need dimensions??

I don't see this turning out well if at all.

There are a few guys who have had to do this to do a V6 swap.

There are no pre-made tube frames, unless you get ahold of LMR.

He had the only real tube frame front. And it was extended too.

thanks mike, ive seen it done. There is a couple of guys around michigan that ive seen with full frames with cavi shells and have wicked air ride setups. They have all had shops do it for them, but i really want to tackle this myself, and want to find some plans. I imagine that its a variation on the cavi prodragster plans. Seein that there is a couple pro drag cavi's out there someone had to make some cad drawiings. I know that its goin out on a limb here to find something like this. like i said before any help would be great

and if i do end up having to build the 3d modelling of the frame id be glad to repost it. if that becomes the case

Look for a good used CJ5 frame. Look 72-83 cause they had the v8 option, you'll want the T18 - make sure it's got the rockcrawler granny gear in it, and the dana 44 rear. Instead of bagging it, lift it sky high.

Imagine your cavalier sitting like that. You *do* want wheel gap like that.
